Our local pub is in the Devon Life top 12. Got to be worth the uphill walk to check it out ( and remember at least it is down hill all the way home!) Proper country pub with good food and a lovely atmosphere 🍻

This summer, experience your favourite children’s book brought to life at Dartmoor Zoo!

Celebrating 40 years since the publication of author Rod Campbell’s classic storybook, we have partnered with Macmillan Children's Books to host the perfect Dear Zoo® experience for all the family to enjoy. 😍🦁

From 23rd July to 4th September, kids of all ages are invited to step into the story and embark on a trail around the zoo. Interact with a giant storybook, listen to the story being told, have fun with your special activity book and of course say hello to some of the animals from the story in real life! 🙊🐍

The Dear Zoo experience is included in your Zoo ticket at no extra cost with the option of purchasing a standard (£2.50) and limited edition (£5.00) activity pack at the gate on arrival.

Please don’t touch or feed the animals that roam the moor.

Their stomachs can’t cope with ”human” food and can make them ill. Instead leave them to enjoy their natural diet grazing the vegetation found growing on the open moor.

By feeding and petting they become more attracted to roadside locations which in turn increases the risk of vehicle strikes.

When feeling threatened there is a chance they may bite, kick or charge.

On Sunday 5 June from 12 noon until 7pm, please join us to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Festivities will take place in the street between the Carpenter's Arms and the Village Hall. The orchard will also be open for safe play and picnics, so remember a picnic rug!
There will be marquees in the street and the village hall will also be open in case of inclement weather.
There will be a bbq, live music, a Royal Toast, children's games and fancy dress, free scones, teas and coffees.
The church will also be open until 4pm with an exhibition of local interest and beautiful flowers inside and out.
As the roads in the village will be closed, please park in the Ilsington Playing Fields and walk down the lane to the village. PLEASE PARK RESPONSIBLY!
If you want an afternoon of traditional fun and a chance to catch up with the community, then come and join us.
Please note that the bbq will be £2 per person and we are also asking that if you attend, please bring along a cake or a salad to share.
All donations of food can be dropped off at the village hall from 9am.
