Happy Skipton Pride 🌈

Today seems like the perfect day to share a little addition to the bookshelves at Bold Venture Cottage.

Our guests often comment on the interesting and eclectic collection of books around the cottage, books to browse, dip into and discover during a quiet moment, just well… because!

So we’ve added the Heartstopper books to our collection. 📚🌈

Because representation matters. Stories where people can see themselves, their experiences and their lives reflected really do matter, and we love the idea of guests discovering these books during their stay.

It’s another little detail that feels very Bold Venture. ❤️

And while we’re here… a little availability update:

Just TWO nights left in August, Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th.

After that, our next availability starts from 17th September.

You know by now… we love the quirky details. 💛

One of our favourite things about owning Bold Venture Cottage is that it’s never really “finished”. Every visit seems to involve adding another little touch that makes us smile, and hopefully makes our guests smile too.

So here’s a little update on what’s new…

📚 A few more interesting books to browse on a lazy afternoon.
🎨 New adult colouring books for those moments when you just want to slow down and switch off.
🛋️ A super comfy footstool… because putting your feet up should be actively encouraged on holiday!
🦊 A gorgeous fox jug, because if you know us, you’ll know we have a bit of a soft spot for woodland creatures.
🦩 And two delightfully quirky pink flamingo mugs… because they’re unapologetically Bold Venture.

They’re only little additions, but that’s what this place has always been about. It’s the thoughtful details, the unexpected finds and the little moments that help make a stay feel special.

🌈 Pride Month at Bold Venture Cottage 🌈

At Bold Venture, we believe the world is a brighter, more interesting place when people feel free to be themselves.

That’s one of the reasons we love colour, character and individuality so much, both in people and in the spaces we create.

Guests often tell us they love the quirky personality of the cottage. We take that as a huge compliment. Bold Venture was never designed to be a generic holiday let. We wanted it to feel welcoming, individual and full of little details that make people smile.

Which brings us to these new arrivals… 🦩☕

A pair of flamingo mugs that felt perfectly at home the moment they arrived.

A small addition, perhaps, but a reminder that life’s a little more joyful when we embrace the things that make us unique.

Bold Venture has never been about creating a generic holiday let. We wanted it to feel individual, welcoming and full of character. A place where guests can relax, switch off and feel comfortable being exactly who they are.

☀️ Summer at Bold Venture Cottage ☀️

Longer days. Relaxing mornings in the courtyard. Evening walks by the canal. Time to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

Whether you’re exploring the Yorkshire Dales, wandering into Skipton for lunch, or simply relaxing with a book in the sunshine, summer is one of our favourite times of year at Bold Venture Cottage.

Our little courtyard is perfect for a quiet drink and a catch-up after a day out, while the recreation area opposite gives children and four-legged family members a little extra space to stretch their legs.

And just a few minutes from the front door, you’ll find the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, ideal for a gentle stroll, watching the boats drift by, and enjoying the slower pace of life that makes Skipton so special.

We’re delighted to be welcoming guests throughout the summer, and with only a few spaces now remaining in the calendar, it’s worth taking a look if you’re thinking about a Yorkshire escape.

With the sunshine finally here, May suddenly feels full of possibility.

We’ve recently had some extra availability open up at Bold Venture Cottage, so to celebrate our first birthday this week, we’ve reduced our May stays by 25% on Airbnb.

A chance to enjoy longer evenings, canal walks, Yorkshire Dales day trips, good food, and a proper change of scene.

✨ Bold Venture Cottage turns one ✨

Today marks our first birthday, one whole year since we opened the door for the very first time.

We didn’t quite know what to expect, only that we wanted to create a place that felt calm, welcoming, and genuinely special.

Since then…
• 48 stays
• 38 five-star reviews
• countless walks, slow mornings, and cosy evenings

But more than anything, it’s been about people — the guests who’ve chosen to stay, the kind messages, and the support from friends, family and this community.

It hasn’t always been easy (there’s a lot more behind the scenes than people see), but it’s been a real privilege to create a space where people can make memories that matter.
