The country kitchen has a habit of becoming a busy wee hub of the house.

Not for the big sit-down meals, that’s what the grand dining room is for, but for the in-between bits. Early coffee, a slice of cake after a walk, someone sitting with a cuppa while dinner plans get discussed, and folk drifting in and out all day.

The first thing guests usually do? Have a wander and explore the house, getting their bearings and deciding where everyone will end up later.

Someone’s already eyeing up the comfiest chair, someone else is asking where the bar is, and the kids are probably halfway up the stairs by then.

That’s the nice thing about staying somewhere with space. Big group holidays feel much easier when there’s room to arrive, relax, and let everyone settle in their own way.

The white room is on the 2nd floor of the house and is used for many things…
