With 2025 marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) and VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day), we want to remind you that we are having our own celebration event on the main Saturday of the Agatha Christie Festival (20th September).

Taking place at the Grand The Grand Hotel, Torquay, The Affair at the Victory Ball is your opportunity to dress to impress (wartime/period costume welcome) and help us party like it’s 1945!

***Introducing the band***

AJ's Big Band is celebrating over forty years of performing across the West Country and beyond. The highly acclaimed seventeen piece has built an enviable reputation for its authentic recreation of the unforgettable swing and jazz classics from the golden years of the big bands. The exciting arrangements and songs - for listening and for dancing- are an integral part of the band's packed programme of musical entertainment.

Its line up of top players is led by saxophonist Ken Parr. Singer Jaqs Price-Hughes brings her stunning vocal style to the performance. All in all, this is an unmissable musical treat.
