If you ever needed an excuse to pop into the pub this is a genuine reason, you’re keeping up with Bouth traditions! Boozy Bouth 😂

Bouth has had historically documented 3 three pubs with the possibility of a fourth, in 1848 three public houses were recorded within the village.

Bouth also had its own malt kiln that supplied the local inns to enable them to brew on the premises as there wasn’t quite the supply chain as we have now with our b**r deliveries 🚚

It makes you wonder how many pints have been drunk within Bouth at its numerous inns over the generations, we’ve definitely put the numbers up especially at Bouth Fest 😂

Good afternoon, everyone! ❤️

Unfortunately, my injury has turned out to be a little worse than we first thought, so we’re having to keep the pub closed today and tomorrow😢

Over the next few weeks, some of our opening and food service hours may change slightly while I’m temporarily out of action and being completely useless!😂

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding while I get back on my feet (literally!)❤️

Our food service hours for the rest of this week will be:

Wednesday to Saturday:
12:00–14:00
17:00–20:30

Sunday:
12:00–16:00

And for the jokers saying I just wanted a week off…I’ve now got SIX!!…This wasn’t quite the holiday I had in mind…but I’ll take what I can get!!😂

Happy Sunday, everyone!🤎

So…Jess decided to take the phrase ‘falling into the new week’ a little too literally and launched herself down the stairs at the beginning of the week😂

As we’re a little short-staffed (and Jess is currently more of a health and safety hazard than a helping hand)…we’ve had to shorten our food service hours today.

We will be serving food 12 till 4pm. As we’ve got a smaller window than usual, we’d recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment!

It is hard to imagine today, looking around our peaceful village, that Bouth was once home to one of the area’s most hazardous industries.

The Black Beck Gunpowder Works opened near Black Beck Farm in 1860 and soon became an important local employer. At its height, more than 70 people worked there.

Gunpowder manufacture was highly dangerous. During the 68 years the works were in operation, 10 fatal explosions claimed the lives of 33 men. The works finally closed in 1928, following a further explosion in which two men were killed.

The company also played a part in village life. In 1911, it provided a Reading Room for employees and their families, furnished with books, a billiard table and a dartboard. The building still stands today as Bouth Village Hall.

The former Black Beck site is now home to Partington’s Holiday Park, continuing the area’s long association with employment and hospitality. We are pleased to welcome many regular visitors from the park, whose presence helps maintain the connection between Bouth’s working heritage, its visitors and village community.

Although Bouth may appear peaceful today, its landscape reflects a rich industrial past. The story of Black Beck is an important part of that heritage, reminding us of the people whose work helped shape the village and the wider area.

It’s 2.5 degrees this morning, the fire is getting ready to be lit and get the pub nice and cosy for the day ahead.

It’s Wednesday at the White Hart so that means it’s pie and pint night 🥧

Tonight’s flavours are chefs kiss 👨🏻‍🍳

You can get pie, peas and a choice of drink for £12.50, additional sides are £2.00 each.
