An exciting new development close to our Scottish Borders cottages
Mapping the River Tweed Trail đ
At approximately 113 miles, the River Tweed Trail will be a breath-taking new long-distance route beginning in Moffat, climbing to source of the river, and on to Berwick-upon-Tweed where the river meets the sea. đ
Check out the proposed route map below đ
The trail will be ready to welcome visitors in 2028 and will offer day and multi-day activities connecting communities, businesses and attractions along the river.
Supported by a brand new website and route planning tools, dedicated signage and interpretation will enhance the trail experience showcasing the exceptional natural, built and cultural heritage of the Borderlands.

đ” Accessibility on the Route đ”
The River Tweed Trail is being designed to welcome everyone, including walkers, cyclists, horse riders, and those using wheelchairs or mobility aids where possible.
While the trail is open to all non-vehicular users, certain sections will be designated as pedestrian-only where the path cannot sustainably support shared use. For cyclists, separate bike spurs will be signed where necessary. The bike route will be on rural paths suitable for mountain / gravel bikes and on quiet roads. đ”
No matter how you choose to explore, the River Tweed Trail will offer a unique opportunity to navigate one of the UKâs most iconic rivers. We look forward to welcoming you!
