🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — Glen Scotia 12 Year Old | £6
_
Glen Scotia sits at 12 High Street in Campbeltown — or "the Wee Toon" as locals call it. Founded in 1832, it was once one of nearly 30 distilleries in a town that earned the title "Whisky Capital of the World" in the Victorian era. Today only three Campbeltown distilleries survive, and Glen Scotia is one of them. Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels, non-chill filtered, natural colour, 46%.
_
NOSE – Fresh sea spray and honeyed vanilla are joined by ripe pineapple, mango and citrus peel, while subtle oak spice hovers in the background.
PALATE – Sweet caramelised sugar and juicy tropical fruit lead, with layers of tangy lemon, toasted oak and maritime salinity. Hints of ginger and nutmeg develop, giving balance to the fruit.
_
FINISH – Long, warming and gently spiced, with cinnamon, vanilla cream and a final touch of coastal breeze.
Tropical fruit with a proper salty edge — Campbeltown in a glass. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.

It always surprises us when people ask "Are you dog friendly?" — when honestly, some of our favourite guests have four legs!

There's something very special about bringing a dog here. The way they settle under the table like they own the place. The tail that starts going when the food arrives. The walk home along the shore that takes twice as long because they've found something interesting the beach. And why not? It's their holiday too.

Here at the Corrie Hotel, we're not just dog friendly. We love dogs.

🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — Cragganmore 12 Year Old | £6
Cragganmore was founded in 1869 by John Smith — a man who'd already managed both The Macallan and The Glenlivet before striking out on his own. He chose a spot near Ballindalloch for its access to the mineral-rich Craggan Burn and the Speyside railway. The name comes from the Gaelic Creagan Mòr, meaning "big rock" — the hill the water tumbles down from. What makes Cragganmore unusual is its flat-topped spirit stills, a design that gives the whisky its famously layered, complex character. It's one of Diageo's Classic Malts, representing Speyside, and long known in the trade as a "distillers' distillery." Bottled at 40%.
NOSE – Aromatic and floral. Heather, fruit salad, creamy texture, with smoked almond and stemmy hay.
PALATE – Rich, honey, stone fruits, chestnuts, walnuts, almonds and berries.
FINISH – Smoky, good length, delicate peppery spice.
A real Speyside classic — complex, elegant and endlessly rewarding. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.

🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — The Hearach, Isle of Harris | £6

"Hearach" is Gaelic for a native of Harris, and this is the first legal single malt whisky ever produced on the island. The distillery was built in Tarbert to bring jobs back to a community with a shrinking population and to revive distilling traditions lost during the Pabbay clearances of the 1840s. Everything is done on the island by local hands with very little automation, and the water is filtered through Lewisian gneiss — some of the oldest rock on earth. Matured in first-fill bourbon casks, oloroso and fino sherry butts, non-chill filtered, natural colour, 46%.

**NOSE** – Beach bonfires, orchard fruits, ginger, vanilla and floral honey.

**PALATE** – Scottish tablet, apples, nutty malt, clotted cream and gentle peat smoke.

**FINISH** – Bright and delicately smoky.

A proper island whisky with real heart behind it. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.

🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — Cardhu Amber Rock | £6
Cardhu — from the Gaelic Carn Dubh, meaning "Black Rock" — started life as an illicit still on a Speyside farm in 1811. John Cu***ng and his wife Helen ran it on the quiet until finally getting a licence in 1824. It was their daughter-in-law Elizabeth who really put Cardhu on the map, building a new distillery and becoming known as the "Queen of the Whisky Trade." Today the distillery's malt forms the backbone of Johnnie Walker. Amber Rock is double matured in toasted American oak casks and bottled at 40% — the name a nod to the whisky's golden colour and the distillery's "Black Rock" origins.
NOSE – Cinnamon-dusted apple slices, a good drizzle of honey and a hint of orange zest. Then there's vanilla biscuits. Oh, so many vanilla biscuits!
PALATE – Lemons, sticky caramel, vanilla essence and oak spice, lovingly drizzled with honey.
FINISH – Subtle bitter orange and oaky on the finish.
Sweet, smooth and dangerously easy to drink. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.

🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — Fettercairn 12 Year Old | £6

Fettercairn sits at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains in the Eastern Highlands — the name itself loosely translates as "foot of the mountain." Founded in 1824, it was only the second distillery in Scotland to be licensed. What makes it unusual is the way they distil: cold mountain water is poured continuously down the outside of the spirit stills through a unique copper cooling ring, increasing condensation inside and allowing only the lightest vapours to rise. It's a method they've used since the 1950s and it gives the whisky its signature tropical, fruity character. Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40%.

**NOSE** – Refreshing nectarine, white flowers and milk chocolate emerge initially. Black toffee and subtle roasted coffee provide darker notes underneath.

**PALATE** – Tropical fruit and sticky Jamaican ginger cake add a sweet and spicy depth, with a flicker of bitter herbs and vanilla complement.

**FINISH** – Orchard fruits and soft spices linger.

A Highland malt that punches well above its weight — fruity, clean and full of surprises. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.

🥃 WHISKY OF THE WEEK — Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old | £6**
_
Bunnahabhain (pronounced "boo-na-ha-ven") is the most northerly distillery on Islay, sitting right on the Sound of Islay at the mouth of the River Margadale. Founded in 1881, it was so remote it could only be reached by boat until 1960. Unlike most of its Islay neighbours, Bunnahabhain focuses on unpeated whisky — no big smoke here, just a gentle coastal character. Bottled at 46.3%, non-chill filtered, natural colour, and matured in a mix of sherry and bourbon casks.
_
**NOSE** – Fresh and aromatic with a mix of sweet and maritime influences — caramel, vanilla, dried figs, seaweed and subtle oak.

**PALATE** – Medium-bodied and oily, featuring roasted hazelnuts, sherry-soaked fruit, marmalade and a distinct sea salt tang.

**FINISH** – Long, warming and slightly dry with lingering notes of walnut, mocha and light spices.
_
A proper Islay malt for people who think they don't like Islay malts. Come and try it at the bar — £6 a measure.
