Finding Freedom at Invicta: A Journey Into Naturism (a members view)
My first steps into naturism were small, almost tentative. A few years ago, I found myself in the garden with a book, lounging on a sun bed. My partner would sometimes join me, perhaps topless, but never in what Invicta members affectionately call “full uniform.”
Like many curious newcomers, our next step was to look online. We found a nearby club—not quite a true naturist setting, but a place where we could at least feel comfortable in full uniform. Unfortunately, it soon became clear that this club’s interpretation of naturism leaned in directions we weren’t comfortable with.
Then fate intervened. Another couple suggested we look up Invicta Sun Club. We did, and soon after, we messaged the secretary. An “interview” was arranged. Nervous and unsure of what lay beyond the gates, we pulled up on a hot summer’s day in 2021—temperatures climbing to 40°C—carrying only our towels and books. Would it be welcoming? Would it be judgemental? Would we even fit in?
The gates opened, and our doubts melted away. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the welcome was extraordinary. We joined members at morning coffee, shaded under the veranda, chatting and laughing as though we had always been part of the group. Plates of sandwiches and crisps were passed around, and the invitation to stay for the evening BBQ quickly followed. Despite bringing no food of our own, we found meals, drinks, and above all, friendship freely shared.
When asked if we needed time to think about joining, we barely exchanged a glance—we signed up on the spot.
Membership opened new doors, quite literally. We were told about the waiting list for chalets and caravans and encouraged to apply. Within three months, we had secured our first property at Invicta: a 20-foot static caravan. It needed some love, but with a little effort, we had our own retreat for the season, open from March through October. Though the club is off-grid, it offers plenty of water and gas, and with solar power now affordable, we soon enjoyed all the essentials: TV, internet, and even the luxury of a fridge freezer. Few things beat the joy of ice cream on a hot naturist afternoon!
Last year we had the chance to purchase a chalet, and after a year of renovation—perhaps rebuilding would have been easier—we now have a home that feels completely ours. I’m fortunate to live this lifestyle eight months of the year, commuting to work from the chalet and returning each evening to the peace of Invicta.
What makes it so special is not only the freedom of naturism itself but the sense of community. At Invicta, there is no judgement, no pressure, and no pretence—just acceptance, laughter, and the simple pleasure of being at ease in your own skin.
For couples curious about naturism, I would urge you to visit a club—even if it’s not on your doorstep. Many offer accommodation, and the experience can be life-changing.

At Invicta, we believe naturism is about more than just shedding clothes—it’s about shedding worries, barriers, and self-doubt. It’s about community, confidence, and connection. And above all, it’s about feeling at home, just as you are.
