We still have a few gaps available during the summer at our beautiful thatched cottage in West Devon. Gorgeous views of Dartmoor and a great pub just around the corner. The cottage was the home of the WWI veteran who inspired Michael Morpurgo to write War Horse!

We have some lovely wildlife and plants in the country lanes around the cottage. There are lots of beautiful ferns like the Hart's-tongue Fern which give the woodlands an almost rainforest-like quality, as you'll see them growing on large branches up in the oak trees.

Another nice original feature is the original staircase. We have fitted stair gates for those of you with infants. These come in handy to stop an inquisitive dog from going upstairs too!

The lounge is a great place to relax of an evening, with sofas from and an open fire for getting warm and cosy on chilly winter evenings. We have plenty of availability from September onwards if you want to make a trip to West Devon in the cooler months of the year.

The Tarka Trail walking route runs right through the village and continues for miles in both directions, providing a lovely way to explore the surrounding Devon countryside on foot. Plenty of availability from September onwards at less than half price of our summer peak rates.

The cottage is built using the traditional cob that is typical of Devon. It is a mixture of clay subsoil and straw that is mixed together and piled up to form a wall. Here is a farm building just down the lane where you can see the stone foundation at the base with cob built on top. The cottage has been rendered to protect the cob from weathering.

Even when it's pouring with rain and the clouds are covering Dartmoor, it's still a nice view from the cottage! Some beautiful horses moved into the field opposite the other day which is nice. We still have availability during the summer from 21st June-2nd July, 16th-23rd July and September onwards.

Our luxurious bath is the perfect place to unwind whilst on holiday at the cottage. There is plenty of hot water and you can enjoy the peace and quiet in the upstairs bathroom after a long day. We still have one week left in the summer holidays from 16th July.

Here's another original feature in the cottage. The fireplace in the master bedroom has a lovely cast iron surround and makes a nice focal point in this cosy room. It can't be used as a fire, but we do have a log burner and an open fire downstairs for you to use. We have plenty of availability from September at less than half price of what our summer holiday rates are.
