Fish Welfare Guidance for Guests Fishing on Our River

We are committed to maintaining high standards of fish welfare and ask all anglers to follow the guidance below while fishing on our river.

Fish Handling Rules

* An unhooking mat must be used for all fish that are brought onto the bank.
* Fish must never be placed directly on the ground, grass, gravel or hard surfaces.
* Fish should be returned to the water as quickly as possible after capture.
* Hands should be wetted before handling any fish to protect the fish’s natural slime coating.
* Barbless or de-barbed hooks are strongly recommended to minimise injury and speed up unhooking.
* Appropriate landing nets should be used and should be wetted before use.

Photography

* Anglers must not stand while holding a fish for photographs.
* All photographs should be taken while kneeling or crouching close to the ground and over the unhooking mat.
* Fish should only be lifted for the shortest possible time required for a quick photograph.
* If a fish appears distressed or requires recovery, it should be returned immediately without photographs being taken.

Returning Fish

* Fish should be supported upright in the water until they are able to swim away strongly on their own.
* Any fish showing signs of stress should be given additional recovery time in the water before release.

General Conduct

* Anglers are expected to fish responsibly and with respect for wildlife and the environment.
* Any injured fish or incidents affecting fish welfare should be reported to the property owner or manager.
* Failure to follow these fish welfare requirements may result in fishing permissions being withdrawn.

I'm not great at updating this page but we just had another great review on AirBnb.
We've also just been awarded Superhost status again.

It's so nice to know we're still doing things right but do book direct if you can to save money on fees 😊.

Did you know we are Dog Friendly?

This is a walk I did with Walter this morning, in the Lincolnshire Wolds. It's about a 12 minute drive from the hut on a bridleway with these incredible views.
We were the only people for miles!
I can provide OS maps for the area, or suggest routes for you.

Happy Easter everyone!
Reposting, as I kept being asked where, how much and if I take dogs.

We are in Lincolnshire, just outside Woodhall Spa.
Yes, we take dogs, the plot is secure to let them off the lead and there are riverside walks from the doorstep.
The AirBnb rate is £100, plus £10 for a dog but we are offering £80, including your dog.
The hut is ready for you to rock up at any time today or tomorrow.

What a gorgeous day!
Just having a cuppa and watching the river.
Our guests are welcome to fish here in the season, or just come and watch the water, it's so healing ☺️
