I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
Whether I’m standing at the front of a wedding ceremony, or standing beside a family saying goodbye, people don’t always remember exactly what was said.
But they remember how they felt.
They remember warmth.
They remember laughter.
They remember stories.
They remember feeling understood.
Because ceremonies, in all there different forms, aren’t really about performance.
They are about connection.
About creating space for people to feel something true.
I haven’t spoken about funerals on here for a little while.
But they remain such a meaningful part of my work and such a privilege to be part of.
So over the next few weeks I thought I’d share a little more about what standing in both places has taught me.
About love.
About people.
About what stays with us.
Because words matter, but it is often the feeling that lasts.
