October brings rain but also heavy crops of fruit on the trees at Orchard Lee and Tudor Lee. Most are heritage varieties but some trees are so old we dont know their variety. We are always pleased if our guests take some fruit home!

We're enjoying terrific numbers of butterflies. This winter we sowed wild flower nectar and pollen seed mix to create a new lawn area, and it has been a buzz with bees and insects, and brought butterflies and day flying moths every day. A few sunny days have brought this batch of butterflies, as well as clouds of what used to be called 'cabbage whites'.
