It is with profound sadness that we remember Kakha Gvelesiani, an outstanding Georgian businessman, visionary entrepreneur, and passionate advocate of Georgian hospitality, art, gastronomy, and wine.
Kakha Gvelesiani played a defining role in Georgia's modern hospitality industry. His name is connected with the Tbilisi Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, and Moxy Tbilisi, as well as the restoration and redevelopment of the iconic Mtatsminda Funicular complex.
From 1998 to 2003, he served on the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Georgia. Until 2025, he led the management of Expo Georgia and chaired its Supervisory Board, making a lasting contribution to the country's exhibition and business infrastructure.
A devoted promoter of Georgian cuisine, wine, and the fine arts, he was admired for his generosity, warmth, and dedication to sharing Georgia's rich cultural heritage.
His passing is a profound loss to Georgia's business community and to all who knew him. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
May his memory be eternal.
