Venture Capital Trust Fund (“VCTF” or, the “Trust Fund”) is a Government of Ghana backed private equity initiative, which was established by the enactment of the Venture Capital Trust Fund Act 2004 (Act 680). In practice, the Trust Fund is a fund of funds and operates through venture capital finance companies (VCFCs). VCTF’s Board of Trustees with the enduring support of the Government of Ghana, h

as through its investments, established a vibrant venture capital industry in Ghana. Today, the Industry provides much-needed long-term funds as well as technical support to enable SMEs grow and expand their operations thereby creating more jobs and increasing their contribution to Ghana’s economic progress. In addition to this, VCTF has been at the forefront of entrepreneurship development in Ghana having established Ghana’s first Angel Investor Network in 2011 to provide financial and mentoring support to young entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. Since 2006, the Trust Fund has partnered with various private sector institutions and international DFIs to establish five funds with more than US$57 million in total in committed capital. To date, more than US$16 million has been invested in 46 SMEs across various sectors of the Ghanaian economy. The Trust Fund is a major player in Ghana’s agricultural sector through its agricultural value chain financing of cereals and grains for the poultry, livestock and brewery industries having disbursed US$3.5 million to key actors of the agricultural commodity value chain.

Today, the Venture Capital Trust Fund (VCTF) and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on sustainable financing, investment readiness, capacity building, and business development for beneficiaries of the Adwumawura Programme.

The agreement reflects a shared vision to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge, resources, and financing pathways needed to build competitive, growth-oriented enterprises.

Through this collaboration, VCTF will contribute to building investment-ready enterprises by providing sustainable financing pathways, business advisory support, and enterprise development interventions that help entrepreneurs grow and scale their businesses.
