IS GHANA GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS?
Sometimes, I find it nauseating seeing and hearing things in the social media. Responsible persons who should have known better bring Ghana so low. How can a lawyer of that magnitude say that it's not a crime to insult the president? It's not so surprising that our children are insulting us now. Children who can not wash themselves well are insulting elders left, right, and centre. Will we win the fight for good morals? An African proverb goes that when the mother cow is chewing grass, the baby cow watches her mouth. Men of God join the fray to falsely prophesie. Some are not ashamed after their prophecies go over the board. When growing up, my father sat me down and told me that a bicycle with a punctured tyre can not go far, to wit, a child with a bad character can not go far in life. Today, we hear of children killing and maiming their parents, and yet, people say insulting the president is politically correct. Are these people saying that, in their stead, it's alright for them. I remember when the president was labelled as incompetent, a journalist used the same word on the then Agric Minister, the world nearly crumbled on the journalist. When shall we learn that insults will never win elections, but good governance does? When shall we learn that insults never develop a country, but good neighbourliness does? Another nauseating language is "when the tables turn." Are we saying that no crime should be punished because one day you shall be in power? We forget that when you come back to power and you do the same, the other will also wait for their turn? Are we also aware that your turn may come when you are not alive to exact your pound of flesh? Someone mentioned that it can take a thousand years, and they will come back to power. I responded that by that time, the idiots may have been cleared, leaving level-headed persons who would think about the country and not retaliation. We need to leave a better society behind us.
