As with most things in life, it’s not only how well you are doing something, but also how easy you look while doing it. It is referred to as style. While youngster snowboarders typically care about the maximum rotations during a jump, the old school mostly focuses on the no-sweatness of the rider. Even if it’s a mere 180-degree rotation or just a method grab. It’s a matter of the fluidity in the movement.

In these terms, the late snowboarder Craig Kelly (1966-2003) was a pioneer. His style dominated all snowboarding covers in the magazines of our youth. He was also a pioneer in respect to abandoning a multimillion-dollar industry contract in order to devote to freeriding, which he loved mostly.

The urban myth wanted him to have visited Greece and Parnassos mountain, a story that despite its popularity in the local community, isn’t justified through photos or people who were present (at least to our knowledge). One of the most interesting off-piste routes however (“Tyrias”) is called “Craig Kelly” as he was supposedly the first to ride it. The route links the ridge above the 1950 plateau with the parking lot at 1750 in Panassos Ski Center.
