Little Stone Villa, Greek Holiday Rental

Little Stone Villa, Greek Holiday Rental The perfect holiday home for a peaceful and relaxing getaway on the beautiful island of Evia in Greece.

This lovingly restored stone villa which sleeps 6 + baby, comes complete with breathtaking sea & mountain views, large heated swimming pool, sun beds, two double bedrooms and one twin room, open plan kitchen/diner/living room, annex with en-suite bathroom, outdoor patio dining area / terrace, air conditioning, broadband Internet connection and all the mod cons. Situated in the stunning hills near

the picturesque village of Kimi on the island of Evia, this family run house was restored in 2006. Ever since it has built an outstanding reputation as the perfect destination for families and groups looking for very secluded and quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of working life. The area is not a tourist hotspot, so you will get to experience a taste of the real Greece. The house is available for rent in both summer and winter. The weather in Evia is stunning, in the summer months (June-August) ranging from 30-40c, which lends itself perfectly for lazy days by the pool enjoying the Mediterranean air. In April, May, September & October the weather remains between 22-35c for those who prefer a slightly cooler yet still sunny holiday. In Spring you can also appreciate the beautiful wild flowers that grow all around the area. Within 10 minutes drive there are sandy beaches, tavernas, bars, and even a small nightclub for those wanting to venture out at night. The area is also perfect for those who like long walks in the stunning mountain scenery. An English speaking guide can also be provided to show you the best walking routes.

Stunning views looking out from the villa. Thanks to Marie S and her family who had wonderful stay with us and gave us this 5 star review.

“We stayed with our two daughters (5&7) and my parents, so 6 of us in total. The Little Stone Villa blew us away, from the exquisite stonework, views from the terrace, views from the pool, views from the shower…you name it, every direction you turn there’s a feast for your eyes. We loved the seclusion of the place, nestled on a mountainside and spent most evenings enjoying BBQ’s on the terrace and star gazing. There are beaches within driving distance and the other Sporades islands can be visited from Kymi Port, a 10 minute drive away. This is no ordinary villa, it has been built with such love and attention to detail, that it felt like our home for the 2 weeks we were there. Linda thinks of everything, from kitchen utensils, games for the children, DVD’s, books, washing powder, pool towels, bats and balls, Wi-Fi, air con, even conjuring up a box of Lego when she heard our youngest played with it. We particularly liked how the pool was a distance from the villa (36 steps, staggered over two levels, to be precise!). Having young children, this gave us peace of mind and them the freedom to roam on the top level, next to the villa, when we weren’t at the pool. Not once did we fret about their safety and believe me, I can be a fretter! My parents are in their 70’s and the downstairs bedroom and shower were ideal for giving them a bit of privacy (at least when the girls weren’t vying to explore the games and books on the bookshelf in there). A magical place with memories made that will long outlive our holiday. We’d recommend the Little Stone Villa in a heartbeat.”

The pool at mid day. A place where our guests spend a lot of time and get so much joy from. Including Simon and his family who gave us this review from their stay in 2018:

"Little Stone Villa is a hidden gem in a wonderful part of Greece. The villa itself nestles on a south facing slope of a spectacular and surprisingly lush green valley with breathtaking views of hill-top villages, rugged mountain scenery, and, apparently almost within reach, the inviting azure sea. You could (we did) happily spend hours just drinking in the vista from the very comfortable terrace with dining table and chairs.
Below the house and terrace, reached by a short flight of steps, is the pool area that is at once secluded and private, but also offers a slightly different and very spectacular angle on the view. The pool, while not deep, is a good size. The loungers are comfortable and the two large shades ample. You could (we did) easily spend all day here by the pool.
But there are excellent beaches, walks and other attractions nearby too.
The house is well laid out with comfortable furnishings and an especially well equipped kitchen.
Linda, the lovely owner, met us at the ferry terminal and guided us to the house – we’d never have found it otherwise. She is a font of knowledge about the local area and a warm and welcoming host.
If you want a taste of Greece that’s a little off the beaten track, yet easy to get to, and with pretty much all you could want within pretty easy reach – you’ll love this place!
Our week here was wonderful and will linger in the memory. We’d love to come back…"

The beautiful view from the top terrace :) Many thanks to Mark P and his family for leaving us a 5 star review from their stay with us this summer.

“We were obviously unsure if we'd make it to Greece this year but were so very glad we did. After a difficult time, what we all really needed was a recharge and this holiday certainly delivered. Linda was very reassuring and put our mind at ease. The house was lovely and clean, in a very peaceful location with an amazing view. The pool and the pool area was our favourite way to spend our days, followed by dinner in one of the many restaurants in nearby Platana and Kymi port. If you want a holiday that is Greek Greece (we didn't encounter one Brit the whole time, bliss!) this is the place for you. We never ventured far (the nearby beaches are lovely), but didn't want to or need to and had a large choice of books to read. We'd love to come back soon!”

In the first of a new series on holidaying in the Greek islands we look at the Sporades – including Skopelos, where Mamma Mia! was filmed – and Evia, the country's second largest island, where the Greeks go on holiday

A brilliant review of their stay at the villa from last weeks guests Andrew & Jo Hadrill. We are glad you enjoyed :)

"The Little Stone Villa is a corner of paradise well worth the detour. Evia is underrated as an island, and correspondingly not overrun by foreign tourists, and Kymi, being on the east coast, is a tad too far for the hoards of Athenians who take the ferries to the west coast. Enoria, a little village of a few dozen houses, is set on a hill looking down on the coast, above an unusually green valley. The Little Stone Villa is on the outskirts of the village, down a sometimes precipitous track, surrounded on all sides by olive groves and greenery, in complete seclusion from other houses. Its terrace has a spectacular view to the other side of the valley, with its triple peaks of incontrovertibly feminine formation (familiarly known as the Big B***y, the Madonna, and the Scraggy One). There is a church perched impossibly on the highest peak, Oxylithos, well worth the visit. At the bottom of the valley, the fine gulf of Kymi opens up.

The house, lovingly rebuilt by the owners from an old stone barn, is compact but well laid out, and its feel is capacious. The use of stone and wood and terracotta tiles and the attention to detail makes it feel both traditional and up to date. It is very well equipped, with everything from wifi to pencil sharpeners, from beach loungers and parasols to straw hats, not to speak of an extensive library of popular English novels. If there is really something you lack, the wonderfully accommodating owner, supplies it in a trice. Everything shows how much love she has put into her dream house. She looks after visitors as if they were friends. And since catering is among her talents, it is well worth while sampling her cuisine.

There are few pleasures on a hot day in Greece to beat a private pool. This one is generously proportioned (if not deep), and set among shady trees, walnut, almond, plum and quince. A recipe for happiness. And if you aren’t fond of the local cicadas and bugs which like to commit su***de in its cool blue waters, you can always pull the cover over after use.

We much enjoyed exploring the area. Kymi, itself no more than a large village, has a modest range of shops. The local beaches, Kyme’s Paralia and Platana beneath Enoria, despite the road that thunders past with cement lorries while work is going on at Kyme port (what a pity the ferry timetable doesn’t allow for day trips to nearby Skyros!), is a fine strip of sand with crystal clear waters. The fish restaurant, O Psaras, is hard to beat. But the treat beach has to be Kalamos, half an hour down the coast, a classic turquoise cove between cliffs, with a string of good fish restaurants.

This is a place to relax, to sit and read and soak up the warmth, then cool off in the pool. A great villa in a lovely spot. We thoroughly recommend it."

A quote from Colin & family, who stayed recently:

"We had a really nice break at the villa. It's location is superb and very quiet. The villa is comprehensively equipped and has a very nice cottage like feel about it - very welcoming. The pool is great - warm, a good size and beautifully situated. We had a number of meals which were all plentiful and tasty. The host (we opted in for cooked meals) went out of their way to make sure things went smoothly and was a constant source of advice and help. Highly recommended."
