How many mirrors are enough?

One in the bathroom.
One at the vanity.
One for the finishing touches.

Because we’ve all had that moment of getting ready and wishing there was just one more mirror.

At Kapetánissa, we’ve thought ahead 🤍

This is “A day in Crete with Kapetánissa” - part 4 ✨

A swim at Plaka beach with views of Spinalonga, followed by homemade Cretan dishes in a nearby mountain village.

The best days in Crete are often the simplest 🤍

Every detail has a purpose.

Our spare toilet paper is kept in reusable fabric bags, not only because they complement the space beautifully, but also to keep it protected until it’s needed.

It’s one of the many small touches that reflect how we welcome our guests: with care, comfort and attention to every detail 🤍

Every piece has a story.

For centuries, Cretan amphorae carried water and w**e, while larger storage jars, known as pithária, stored wheat and other harvests.

Today, these handcrafted pieces have been given a different purpose, bringing a piece of Crete’s heritage into our studios.

Ours come from Thrapsanó, a village renowned for its centuries-old pottery tradition. We found them at MINOS Potters Cooperative of Thrapsano where we were welcomed by the loveliest people, whose passion for preserving this craft stands out.

Supporting local craftsmanship is one of the ways we share the authentic spirit of Crete with our guests.

Experiencing Crete goes beyond the places you visit.

It’s found in the little details, the scent of local herbs, the products you use, and the thoughtful choices that shape your stay.

That’s why we have chosen eco-friendly amenities by Bioaroma Crete (Official) made with natural ingredients inspired by the island’s rich herbs.

Because we believe every part of your stay should feel connected to the place you’ve come to discover 🌿

Some details are more than decoration.

The colourful woven bag you see above our wardrobe is called a voúrgia.

Handmade by our great grandmother, these bags were once used in Crete to carry everyday essentials, like food.

Today it reminds us that hospitality isn’t only about beautiful spaces, but also about preserving the stories that shaped them.

One of our favourite parts of hosting is helping guests discover Crete beyond the obvious.

This is “A day in Crete with Kapetánissa” - part 2, a way of sharing the places we genuinely love and the experiences that make this island special.

We hope this series helps you discover a side of Crete you might not find on your own.

This is Crete through our eyes 🤍

At Kapetánissa Concept Studios we have chosen art that brings our guests closer to the spirit of Crete.

This print by Cretan artist Eleni Psyllaki - inspired by ancient vessels once used in everyday life - reflects the island’s timeless heritage while blending seamlessly with the aesthetic of our studios.

Choosing local is part of our concept - a way of celebrating Crete and all that it has to offer.
