This isn’t just a place we rent out. It’s where I grew up coming with my parents—and now our kids get Maui mornings, balcony turtle sightings and trips downstairs to the same beach with their grandparents.

Somehow, that never stops feeling special. 🤍

Some people want Maui activities from sunrise to sunset.

Others want coffee in their pajamas, to be able to see the ocean and they are snorkeling in from the couch and absolutely no pressure to leave before lunch.

Condo 708 is for the second group. 🌴

It’s a quiet, one-bedroom oceanfront condo at The Mahana on North Kaʻanapali—with a full kitchen, private lanai and the kind of view that becomes half the itinerary.

Watch turtles below, check the snorkeling conditions from upstairs and come home for lunch whenever the beach gets busy. During whale season, you don’t even need to leave the lanai for your first activity of the day. 🐋

When I was a kid, seeing a Hawaiian green sea turtle (AKA Honu) felt like spotting a unicorn. Now? They’re popping up like they own the place—and honestly, they kind of do. The Hawaii Wildlife Fund and their amazing volunteers work around the clock to keep them safe, protect their nests and give these gentle giants a fighting chance.

We even just saw a nest being protected that could hatch up to 100 tiny turtles within the next two months. Basically, the cutest little beach invasion is on the way. 🐢🐢🐢

☕️ From your lanai: Mahana

🏖️ Resting on shore: Ho‘okipa
Go later in the day and look for what appears to be a suspicious number of rocks. Spoiler: they aren’t rocks. The other day we counted 47 but have been there days when it’s reached 90 on the beach.

🤿 Snorkel with turtles: Honokeana Bay
The rocky cove near Nāpili. We’ve seen 10+ in one snorkel here—it’s amazing to watch them glide through the water. If only have one chance this is a guaranteed spot in the water but conditions and entry aren’t beginner-friendly, so know your limits.

🌴 West Maui easier snorkel turtle spots:
Try Nāpili Bay early, especially near the rocky edges, or head to Kahekili Beach Park when the water is calm. Black Rock at the north end of Ka‘anapali can also be excellent before the crowds arrive.

😌 While barely trying: Baby Beach
We’ve spotted turtles just gliding along the shallows of baby beach.

🐢Maui Ocean institute: amazing aquarium and they have a great rescue program.

🛥️ By boat or kayak: Maluʻaka Beach/Turtle Town — strongest South Maui recommendation; snorkel near the rocky ends on a calm morning or get kayaks out early and watch the pop up all around you

Whatever your turtle-viewing style, stay at least 10 feet away. No touching, chasing or blocking them—even when they swim toward you.

Save this because yelling “TURTLE!” on Maui never gets old.
