The 29th Recognition Ceremony was successfully held on 25 April 2026 to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of 140 HKU students. We were honoured to have Mrs Cherry Tse (Executive Vice-President (Administration and Finance)), Professor Kelvin Yeung (Dean of Student Affairs), faculty representatives and guests, CEDARS leaders, awardees, their families and friends, joining the celebration. Congratulations again to all the awardees!

✨ Meet our Outstanding Awardee | Bibi Hajirah (Business)

Bibi Hajirah has captured three awards at the 29th Recognition Ceremony, namely, Achievement Award for Co-curricular Excellence, Distinguished Service to the Community, and CEDARS Service Award (Gold Award). Join us in congratulating Bibi on her incredible achievements! 👏

Bibi assumed passionate commitment in leadership, community engagement, innovation and professional development. As a co-founder of social enterprise called “Umeed” supporting ethnic minority communities, and a highly committed student host working with CEDARS, she has been dedicated to bridging cultures and empowering communities inside and outside HKU.

Kenneth Ma Wing Heng founded “Embrace Chorus”, the first choir for elderly with dementia in Hong Kong. Through the transformative power of music, participants benefited by retaining precious memories, stabilising their emotions, building confidence, and fostering social connections. Balancing his studies with service to the community while deepening his knowledge about dementia, Kenneth has grown from a compassionate dreamer into a visionary leader. 🪄

🎓 Celebrating Excellence at the 29th Recognition Ceremony! 🌟

We are thrilled to honour the incredible achievements of our outstanding HKU students at the 29th Recognition Ceremony, organised by CEDARS on 25 April 2026 at the Rayson Huang Theatre! 🎉

A total of 140 students were recognised across three award categories — Achievement Award for Co-curricular Excellence, Distinguished Service to the Community, and CEDARS Service Awards — celebrating their exceptional contributions, leadership, and dedication both within and beyond the University. 💫

Graced by Mrs Cherry Tse, GBS, JP, Executive Vice-President (Administration and Finance) and Professor Kelvin Yeung (Dean of Student Affairs), the ceremony was an inspiring celebration of whole-person development, community spirit, and service leadership. 🙌

Mrs Tse complimented the awardees on their achievements beyond academics, demonstrating leadership through serving others, while Professor Yeung applauded their commitment to co-creating a vibrant and impactful student life with CEDARS at HKU. 🌍
