Curry is one of the mainstream foods in Japan. Traditional Japanese curry is typically thick and often paired with pork, beef, or chicken, focusing less on presentation.

Another variant is the “Soup Curry” from Hokkaido.

Recently, more restaurants have started offering “Japanese French Curry,” characterized by incorporating French culinary techniques, featuring more vegetables, and emphasizing plating. The variety of foods paired with the curry is also more diverse.

I tried three or four of these Japanese French curry restaurants in Osaka, and overall, they were quite tasty.

The newly opened branch in Namba offers two regular meat options: squid and duck, along with a seasonal special, which this time is flounder.

The curry has a slightly sweet flavor, and the squid is well-seasoned, while the flounder is decent (though I prefer sashimi a bit more). When curry sauce is mixed with five types of vegetables and white rice, it is very delicious. A pleasant surprise was the smoked egg topping, which added a great smoky flavor.

It’s worth for a try. 😊😊

For all beef lovers….

This restaurant is located, away from the tourist area, in Tenkachaya and is a yakiniku restaurant decorated in the Showa era style.

As soon as you enter, you see a "Wagyu Mountain," with the entire fridge filled with large cuts of various types of Wagyu beef.

I didn't have a reservation, and by around 17:30, it was already 80-90% full.

I ordered two types of beef. One is theカルビ (karubi) which is available in all yakiniku restaurants, which is the meat near the beef rib." The "上" refers to the higher quality meat, priced around 1,400 yen.

The other type is カイノミ (kainomi), which is the "loin heart". It has a chewy texture and is not greasy, making it a rare cut, priced around 2,000 yen.

Both types of meat come with thick-cut, and you can tell they are delicious just by looking at them.

Next time, I will try the thick-cut beef tongue and other rare cuts.

After eating, I took a sunset photo in front of the restaurant, and coincidentally, a Hankai Tram passed by.

My new apartment is located near Tenjinbashi-suji Rokuchome, and I’ve recently discovered there are many high-quality ramen shops in the area.

One standout is "麥と鷄" (Maito Tori), which specializes in chicken paitan ramen. I've already had it four or five times during this period.

Another popular spot is "チョンマゲ" (Chonmage), which offers shio, shoyu, and miso ramen, with their fried rice also being a signature dish. The female manager of this shop is a well-known internet personality, often featured in media interviews. I’ve watched her prepare fried rice in videos—she’s quite skilled.

In their Umeda branch, I wonder if she’s present there too.

"ぶた斬り 以蔵" (Buta Kiri Izo) mainly serves rich pork-based tsukemen, which is currently the best dipping ramen I’ve had in Osaka. They operate only Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 14:00.

"中華そば 洛二神" (Chuka Soba Raku Nisei) has a very simple, Showa-era vibe and specializes in Chinese-style shoyu ramen. Every spring and summer, they offer limited-time dipping noodles with a lighter seafood-based broth.

"中華そば ストライク" (Chuka Soba Strike) focuses on shoyu ramen and is the perfect remedy when you’ve had a bit too much to drink—definitely a comforting and revitalizing bowl.

Which one you like? Please leave your message in comment.

Kawazu cherry blossoms are early bloomers and are relatively fewer in number near Osaka and Kyoto compared to the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms.

Somei Yoshino has a lighter shade of pink to white, and each has its own beauty.

This group of Kawazu cherry trees is located in the residential area of Fushimi between Osaka and Kyoto, near the ”Yodo“ station on the Keihan Main Line, making it easily accessible.

This weekend is likely the last chance this year to enjoy the peak autumn leaves in Keihan, so I went to Kyoto again today.

I didn't want to go too far, so I revisited Nanzen-ji and Eikan-do.

Most of the trees are still covered in red and yellow leaves, but there are also many fallen leaves on the ground. I noticed that many of the leaves still on the trees are close to wilting and will soon fall.

This year, the peak viewing period for red leaves in Kyoto is about 2 to 3 weeks later than usual.

Here is "Daigo-ji" in the Yamashina district. Compared to other major spots for viewing red leaves in Kyoto, it is less crowded and easily accessible. You can reach it within 1 km on foot without needing to transfer to a bus after getting off the train.
