*Joint* *Statement* *by* *SHTMSA*, *HKPUSU*

Dear Dean Chon,

The Hong Kong Police Force has attempted to invade the campus area of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University without search warrants and shoot immense amount of tear gas, rubber bullets and bean bag shots. From 17/11, the police force has surrounded the campus area and students inside PolyU are being trapped. They are choking from excessive tear gas, threatened by bean bag shoot and water cannon. The conduct of the police force is posing PolyU students into threats.

We, the successive SHTMSA, would like to express our wrath towards the Hong Kong Government and the Hong Kong Police Force. In addition, we strongly condemn the irresponsible behavior of the school.

In school, we were taught to put people in centre of hospitality. Tonight, students are under life threatening humanitarian crisis in PolyU campus. We hereby ask for your assistance to contact President Professor Teng and help deescalate the situation. Please save the kids and let them see hope. We truly believe that the intervention from senior management is critical to stop the condition from worsening and save the lives of our PolyU students.

In face of such a totalitarian system, we will never make a concession.
