Happy Balinesse New Year, Caka 1938 (March,9th 2016)

NYEPI

"Nyepi" is a Balinese "Day of Silence" that is commemorated every Caka Warsa (New year Caka) according to the Balinese calendar in 2016, is on March 9th. It is a Hindu festival celebrated especially in Bali, Indonesia. Nyepi, a public holiday in Indonesia, is a day of silence, fasting and meditation to Bali. Nyepi is also celebrated as New Year's Day.
Starting from 06:00 am to 06:00 am the next day,
"Nyepi" is a time for self-reflection, in "Nyepi" Hindus not doing four things. called "Catur Brata Penyepian"
Namely four activities that are not done on the day of "Nyepi".is;
"Amati Geni" = Not Fire / Lighting
"Amati Karya" = Not Working
"Amati Lelungaan" = Not Traveling.
"Amati lelanguan" = Not Noisy / Party
and, for some people, not talking or eating at all.
The effect of these prohibitions is that the usually busy on the streets, on that day roads in Bali will empty, there is no sound from the TV and radio, and some signs of activity seen even in the house.
The only people to be seen outdoors is "Pecalang", traditional security men who patrol the streets to ensure the ban is being followed.
Although "Nyepi" is a day for Hindus, peoples or tourists non-Hindus are not exempt from the prohibition Such.
Although they are free to do what they want inside their hotels, no one is allowed onto the beach or the streets, and the only airport in Bali will be closed for the entire day.
The only exceptions granted are for emergency vehicles respond to life-threatening conditions and women about to give birth.

The main purpose "Nyepi" is pleading presented to the God, to cleanse "Bhuana Alit" (human nature / Microcosmos) and "Bhuana Agung" / macrocosmos (universe).
Before "Nyepi", there are several series of ceremonies which Hindus, particularly in the area of Bali.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part of "NYEPI":

"MELASTI,TAWUR (Pecaruan), and PENGERUPUKAN"

Three or four days before "Nyepi", the Hindu people do Sanctification by performing "Melasti" ceremony also called "Melis / Mekiyis". On that day, all the means praying in the temple (shrine) paraded to the beach or lake, because the sea or lake is the source of holy water (Tirta Amrita) and can purify all "leteh" (gross) in man and nature.
The day before "Nyepi", namely the "tilem sasih Kesanga" (new moon 9th), the Hindu ceremony "Bhuta Yadnya" at all levels of society, from each family, hamlets, villages, districts, and so on, by taking any one of the types "caru" (sort offerings) according to his ability. Bhuta Yadnya that each named "Panca Sata" (small), "Panca Sanak" (medium), and "Tawur Agung" (large). "Tawur" or "pecaruan" itself a purification / "pemarisuda Bhuta Kala" and all "leteh" (defilement) is expected to disappear all. "Caru" conducted in house, each consisting of foreign rice (five) color totaling 9 "tanding" / packet and side dishes, such as chicken "brumbun" (colorful) accompanied by drumming wine / wine. "Bhuta Yadnya" to the King of "Bhuta, Bhuta" and "Batara Kala" , pleading that they do not disturb the peoples.
"Mecaru" followed by "pengerupukan" ceremony, the spread "Nasi Tawur", torch around the houses and all over the yard, and hitting any objects (usually gong) to voice crowded / noisy. This stage is done to take "Bhuta Kala" out from neighborhood houses, yards, and the surrounding environment. Particularly in Bali, pengrupukan usually celebrated with a parade of "Ogoh-Ogoh" embodying "Bhuta Kala" who paraded around the neighborhood, and then burned. To the same thing, namely expel "Bhuta Kala" from the surrounding environment.

"NYEPI" (Silent)

The next day, on "pinanggal pisan, sasih kedasa" (1st, month 10th), is "Nyepi" Ceremony. On this day the atmosphere as dead. No flurry of activity as usual. On this day Hindus implement "Catur Brata" Penyepian is:
Amati Geni (no fiery / do not use or turn on the fire),
Amati Karya (not working),
Amati Lelungan (not traveling),
Amati Lelanguan (not Make noisy / Party).
So for the new era, really started with a new clean white page. To start life in the "Caka" new year else, this base is used, so that everything we do starts from there, pure and clean. Each person knowledgeable (the wruhing tattwa Jnana) implement Brata (restraint of lust), yoga (connecting the soul with "Paramatma" (God)), "tapa" (resistance training suffers), and "samadhi" (oneness of God, which is the end goal is the sanctity of the inner and outer) ,
All of it becomes imperative for Hindus to have an inner readiness to face any challenge of life in the new year.

"NGEMBAK GENI" (New Era)

The last series of the "Caka" New Year celebration is a day that falls on the Geni Ngembak "pinanggal Kalih, sasih kedasa" (2nd months 10th). On this day the Saka New Year entering the second day. Hindus perform "Dharma Shanti" with a large family and neighbors, gave thanks and sorry forgive each other (ksama) to each other, to start the New Year clean sheet. "Tattwamasi Dharma Santi" is a philosophy which holds that all human beings in all corners of the earth as a creation of "Ida acintya Wasa" should be mutual love one another, forgive all the mistakes.
Live in harmony and peace.

Thank you for understanding

Regards
