48 hours before this photograph was taken, none of these stone formations existed. The venue was an empty grass lawn.
Inspired by the bride’s upbringing in Irvine and the groom’s years in Los Angeles, we wanted to bring a sense of Coastal California to Bali, not through obvious refs, but through its quiet, sun-washed materiality: chalky stone, white sand, shells, soft drapery and an almost entirely tonal palette.
So we built the landscape ourselves.
In under two days, our team constructed the rock formations from the ground up, transforming an empty lawn into an entirely new landscape. White sand was brought in to soften the elements, while sheer fabric was draped through the stone to create movement and contrast against its rawness.
The transformation didn’t stop at the architecture.
Every detail was designed as part of the same world — from the stationery and tablescape to the shells, stones, florals and smallest styling details. Nothing was intended to feel placed onto the venue. We wanted everything to feel as though it had always belonged there.
By daylight, it was pale, soft and almost ethereal.
By night, the same stone landscape became dramatic and sculptural.
Raw yet refined. Sculptural yet soft.
Coastal California state of mind, built from the ground up.
