Another great antique displayed in the cottage

A Jug and Basin set

Used for washing hands, faces or even for shaving before the introduction of indoor plumbing! The jug was filled with water which was generally heated on the stove and carried to the wash station where it was poured into the basin. No taps, no drains, just commitment.

Has anyone ever seen one of these?

This is an antique bed warmer - basically the pre electric blanket solution😆

Hot embers from the fire were filled into the pan and it was then moved around between the sheets, before climbing into bed on them freezing cold nights.

This is one of many old antiques we’ve got displayed around the cottage 🏡

Footsteps at the door, fires lit, quiet mornings and shared moments — all part of what makes this place what it is.

Happy New Year to all our previous guests, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who stayed with us in 2025. You’ve each left something behind, even if only a memory.
