On Thursday, over 150 incentive travel professionals gathered in the stunning surroundings of Lyrath Estate for the annual SITE Ireland Summer Soirée.

It was a fantastic day of connection, creativity, and celebration. Guests enjoyed a range of memorable experiences across the estate, including engaging indoor (meant to be outdoor) activities with Midland Escape, a unique tasting experience with Ballykeefe Distillery, and Laser Clay Pigeon & Archery with the incredible team from Hawkeye School of Falconry & Country Pursuits.

A huge thank you and congratulations to the entire team at Lyrath Estate for their exceptional hospitality and flawless ex*****on. Every detail — from the delicious food and cocktails to the warm welcome — made for a truly special gathering.

The rain did not stop us enjoying ourselves....

Sue Uda, RIP

SITE Ireland are deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Sue Uda. Sue was an inspirational leader in the Irish tourism and business events industry, having created and nurtured an incredible team around her at A Touch Of Ireland, a superb mentor to many and always offering a warm welcome to all.

Sue was also of course instrumental to the establishment of the SITE Ireland chapter in the 1990s, to which we owe her an abundance of gratitude.

“It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Sue Uda. I first met Sue 25 years ago, she was a trailblazer helping to put Ireland on the map as a MICE destination. She was kind and supportive, and the DMC world in Ireland won’t be the same without her”. -Marie Lawlor, President, SITE Ireland.

Speaker Spotlight

In our last speaker spotlight for Monday's SITE Ireland Sustainability Event; a future focused session on Sustainability in the MICE industry, we'd like to introduce you to our second global speaker; From now's Matilda Riley who is based in the United Kingdom.

From now's mission is to identify, facilitate and communicate the changes needed to create a sustainable future for hospitality, leisure and events.

In her role as Sustainability Consultant, Matilda draws upon her comprehensive and varied background in sustainability, including having studied geography at university. As a co-ordinator of internal holistic sustainability, including B Corp and CSR, Matilda has the latest tools and knowledge to offer input on how to improve events for the better including the implementation of internal sustainability operation into events and Scope 3 emissions, and calculating an events' carbon footprint.

With a keen focus on global justice, equality, and the environment. Matilda is recognised for her workshops, which make sustainable events accessible to everyone.

Speaker Spotlight

With under a week to go to the SITE Ireland Sustainability Event; a future focused session on Sustainability in the MICE industry, we'd like to introduce you to one of our global speakers, Rachael Riggs, CMP, DES, SEPC from Maritz Global Events who will be joining us virtually from Chicago.

For nearly 25 years, Rachael’s passion has been creating holistic and sustainable event experiences, motivating people to be the best versions of themselves while caring for the environment. As General Manager, Environmental Strategy and the subject matter expert on Wellbeing Design, Riggs is responsible for Maritz. corporate sustainability (ESG) reporting and compliance. Additionally, Riggs co – created a carbon footprint measurement tool that measures the footprint of an event. With this tool, Riggs works with clients to provides design insights to lessen the impact of an event. Riggs also works with clients to design event experiences that care for the whole person and so they can perform at their peak.

Rachael is the recipient of awards from the Events Industry Council, Professional Convention Management Association, and Smart Meetings magazine. She currently serves on the Events Industry Council APEX Commission leading the Wellbeing Working Group, Global Wellness Institutes’ Workplace Wellbeing Working Group and the Net Zero Carbon Events Standards of Measurement Working Group. An life-long fitness enthusiast and advocate, she has five half-marathons and a triathlon to her credit.
