As part of the Limerick History Festival Kilmallock Library hosts William O’Neill, Curator of Museums at Limerick Civic Trust
On Tuesday 6th October @ 6.30pm.
William’s lecture is entitled Limerick, 1916 – The people, the places, and the flag. 1916 was a year of revolution. For the first time in centuries, Ireland had seen its first truly successful blow against the British government. There are numerous reasons for this, which will be explored in the talk. The lecture will also focus on the people of Limerick who contributed, the places in Limerick where the Irish Volunteers were strongest, and how Limerick was due to participate in the Rising itself.
This illustrated talk will feature many famous figures, as well as some lesser known stories. All welcome.
