From seed to season 🌾

A glimpse of our terrace rice fields after harvest grown right here at our homestay, the way it has been done for generations.

Sikkim is home to many indigenous rice varieties from the nutty heirloom red rice to small grain aromatic types lovingly nurtured in mountain terraces.
Each variety carries the wisdom of the land, shaped by monsoon rains, clean water and organic soil.

Harvested just a month ago these fields once glowed golden reflecting the quiet rhythm of rural life and Sikkim’s deep connection to rice not just as food but as culture, tradition and sustainability.
Here every grain tells a story of patience, purity and the seasons of the hills.

As we mark the end of the year, our hearts are full of gratitude.

Thank you to every guest who stayed with us and turned our homestay into a true home.
It has been an absolute pleasure hosting you all and we look forward to welcoming many more guests and creating beautiful memories together🧿

By a lovely coincidence, this time also marks our guest’s 37th wedding anniversary. We wish them good health, prosperity, many more travels and a lifetime of love and togetherness.

It is just a kilometre from our homestay, come and enjoy the scenic view.

Aritar Lake also known as Lampokhari Lake, is one of the oldest natural lakes in Sikkim. It sits at an elevation of about 4,600 ft above sea level.
The name comes from the local dialect, where “Lam” means “long” and “Pokhari” means “lake,” describing its elongated boot like shape. Historically, the area around Lampokhari was part of the ancient Silk Route corridor connecting Kalimpong and Pedong in West Bengal to the Jelep La Pass and Tibet. Traders and travelers passing through would stop here, sometimes taking water, resting and offering prayers at nearby shrines before continuing their long journeys. There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Padmasambhava on the lake’s banks, which adds spiritual value for many visitors. Today, the lake offers boating facilities while a viewpoint above it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the water, pine forests and surrounding hills.
