In efforts to help the society, dating back to year 2005; a group of individuals, in their teens, formed a social welfare group to take initiatives on human fronts and help aware the people on different aspects of society. To be abled in all ways is been considered blessed, but to understand the differently abled was worth more respecting. The group, for past 15+ years, have

been organizing Welfare event annually at different locations across Kolkata, having to spend a day with the inmates, donating items of basic necessities, provide amenities of all sorts and yet help aware and inspire surroundings to the term “Humanity”. We make the day memorable for the inmates by organising fun-filled events with special food for occasion. We are a non-registered entity and neither a membership fee is attached to have people get associated to us. Its an open forum where one willingly participate, provide inputs & help better the cause. 23rd June 2005, the landmark date when the group consisting of 5-7 friends with family members first conducted a small welfare program for approximately 60 blessed kids of Nirmalaya Shishu Bhawan, Entally, Kolkata, India. The success of the event acted a major stepping stone to the things we've accomplished till date. Today, we are blessed of having 125-150 young members with friends & family, aged young and old, associated to the cause, a strong base of over 400 well wishers. The date 26th of January 2013, marks another feather in our history since the group decided to name itself as “TO.U.CH -ek Sparsh”, where TO.U.CH denotes “TOgether...United for CHarity” and Sparsh denotes “the feeling of happiness towards the cause”. Driven by Mother Teresa's inspirational thought “Do something beautiful for God”, we hope reading this inspires you to take up initiatives on human fronts and help derive the beautiful, the world wishes to experience. Our Accomplishments:

04th January, 2009: Prabhatak Samgha Homes, Saltlake.

23rd March, 2011: Lighthouse for the Blind School, Kalighat.
08th January,2012: Calcutta Deaf & Dumb School, Manicktala.
13th January, 2013: Lighthouse for the Blind School, Kalighat.
12th January, 2014: NGO Navanir Old Age Home, Basdroni, Tollygunge.
18th January, 2015: NGO Calcutta Muslim Orphanage, Park Circus. and more

A perfect world is one, where there's no scarcity of basic necessities and It's extremely difficult to understand what constitutes to hunger. No being should be deprived of food! If basics are covered for the lesser fortunate, society at large benefits and the surrounding becomes more inclusive for all. Let's not wait for other's to take onus, yet simply put a foot forward to see how magical life gets when God starts laying the pitch ahead. Trust in Lord, for he gave you this beautiful life and expects you to leave a positive impact while you rent his precious home. 🙏

In a painful sight, these individuals sit under the scorching heat of sun, to get food served. There are many unique stories on how life has panned out for each and have landed them to this sunday community kitchen. Their story teaches one to appreciate the very basics, that we take for granted at multiple times. Kindly stay humble of your identity and inspire surroundings to care for the lesser fortunate. 🙏

Food wastage is a severe issue in a country like ours with mass population. In many of our families & neighbourhood, wasting food is deemed Ok, not knowing the repercussions of leading it to be a habit in many cases. I'm sure we'd notice, many young and old alike, leave a small portion of food right at the end and refuse it consume it, thus wasting it. This should never be promoted under any circumstance and as adults, we need to take account on setting the right examples. Please make sure to point out any instances of food wastage, thus helping in keeping your surrounding in good health. 🙏

Able or not, a culturally driven society drives the surroundings and create a world we all accomodate in. How throwing tiniest of garbage on streets is deemed acceptable (by most of us), not knowing we're littering our own home (mother Earth). Similar is the habit of wasting food, since very few parents/elders takes the onus to educate their young ones the importance of eating adequate to appetite, rather in most cases children learn to fill the plate at one, in fear of food getting over, thus constituting towards mass wastage. Please take onus to minimize wastage and encourage our surroundings against it too. 🙏

Sitting in the scorching heat for over an hour, those eyes wait patiently for food to be served. Our world at the moment, needs compassionate people to take up causes and reduce the disparity. Even sponsoring a meal or planting a tree or rescuing an animal, all supports the world to be a safer place for everyone to accomodate. All it needs is that extra bit of motivation to raise your hand and call out your participation. ✋

Taking food in small quantities ensures that chances of wasting food is minimal. Leftover food is often discarded and thrown, yet no one realizes the journey of each grain/pulses or the ingredient of any food you intake has done in order to reach your plate. Once we start valuing each ingredients to food, we will be able to make a greater difference to our surroundings in ways unknown to us. 😊
