Manali is a small town in the Kullu district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is a famous tourist place.Manali is 40kms from Kullu. Leading up to Manali from New Delhi are the towns of Panipat and Ambala (Haryana State), Chandigarh (Union Territory), Ropar (Punjab), and Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Mandi and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. From Kullu there are two roads running parallel to Manali on both sides of the valley with the river Vyas flowing in between.The nearest airport is at Bhuntar,which is about 50 kms from Manali. The weather in Manali is cold most of the seasons. The hottest months are May and June when temperature can reach 35 degrees. Winter starts from mid September and lasts upto March. These are the months when snowfall is expected in Manali. Why Manali is famous? Manali is a famous tourist place ,surrounded by scenic views all around. Tourist season starts from April upto July and then again from September to February. But tourists come all the year. Manali is a place for all the adventure activities. Paragliding, Skiing, Heli-ride, Rafting, trekking are some the things tourists and professionals look out for. The famous Raid-De-Himalya car rally also takes place through Manali. Manali is also famous for its Apple orchards. When should one come to manali? Anytime, but the season starts from April till July.Then again in September. Manali is always chilling but in summers the sun is too rough for skin. So better bring some sun screen with u. How to reach manali? The best way to come to manali is by bus. If you are in Delhi then book a HP (Himachal Pradesh) road transport bus or HP tourism volvo from ISBT. Otherwise, book a private volvo bus ticket from some tour n travel agent. HP tourism volvo and other private volvos can be boarded from Chanderlok building or the petrol pump next to same building at Janpath. volvo or tourism bus ticket would cost around Rs 1100 (as on 31/11/2010) but u can get better deals with private volvos starting from Rs 600.
