Meghalaya is a dream for groups who want raw nature + adventure + those "did that really just happen" moments 🏔️
It's called “Abode of Clouds” and honestly lives up to it. If Kerala is lush and calm, Meghalaya is wild, misty, and full of waterfalls at every turn.
*Why Meghalaya Works for Groups of 10*
Factor What You Get
**Vibe** Living root bridges, cleanest villages, 1000+ waterfalls, caves, crystal rivers. Zero commercial tourism feel
**Best Season** **Oct-May**: Clear skies, waterfalls still flowing. **Jun-Sep**: Peak monsoon = unreal greenery + max waterfalls, but heavy rain + landslides possible
**Stay** Homestays in Sohra/Cherrapunjee, riverside cottages in Shnongpdeng, treehouses. Many places take 10+ pax
**Food** Local Khasi food: Jadoh rice, pork dishes, smoked meat. Veg options limited but hotels adjust. Carry snacks
**Budget** ₹20k-30k per person for 5N/6D ex-Guwahati — includes stays, Sumo/Tempo Traveller, guides, entry fees

*3 More Meghalaya Flavors for Groups*
1. *“Caving Special”*: Add *Siju Cave + Krem Mawmluh* in Cherrapunjee. Need guide + headlamps. Not for claustrophobic folks but crazy experience.
2. *“Offbeat West Meghalaya”*: Skip Dawki, do *Tura + Balpakram National Park* instead. 2 extra days needed. Wildlife + Nokrek Biosphere. Very raw.
3. *“Slow + Easy”*: Drop Double Decker trek. Do *Laitlum Canyons* sunrise, *Arwah Cave*, *Dainthlen Falls* instead. Less stairs, same views.
*Group Tips You’ll Thank Me For*
1. *Transport*: Book 1 Tempo Traveller or 2 Innovas from Guwahati for full trip. Shared sumos are cramped for 10.
2. *Fitness*: Double Decker trek = 7000 steps total. If 3-4 people can’t, split group. Send trekkers early, others do Mawlynnong.
3. *Network*: Jio + Airtel work best. BSNL in remote areas. Download offline maps.
4. *Cash*: ATMs rare after Shillong. Carry cash from Guwahati.
5. *Rain gear*: Even in Oct, it can drizzle. Ponchos + good grip shoes mandatory.
6. *Permits*: Indians don’t need ILP for Meghalaya. Just carry ID.
*Meghalaya vs Kerala vs Malaysia for groups*:
- *Kerala*: Relaxed, houseboat, easy travel, great food
- *Malaysia*: City + beach + theme parks, super convenient
- *Meghalaya*: Adventure, raw nature, lots of walking, bragging rights. You’ll be tired but happy
*Cost for 10 pax, 5N/6D*: ₹22k-28k pp with decent stays + private vehicle + all entry. Camping brings it down, luxury resorts push it up.
Your Malaysia group did well with mixed activities. If they’re up for stairs + nature, Meghalaya will blow their minds. If they want zero trekking, Kerala is safer.
*Which month are you planning?* I’ll tweak the plan — monsoon vs winter Meghalaya are 2 different trips.
