Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India
When it comes to palaces and forts in Rajasthan Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the largest and most visited one. Built in 1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh, this palace was built in order to provide employment for thousands of people in the region suffer from hunger. Since then, the palace was home to the royal family.

The palace was originally known as Chittar palace as it was located on a hill, Chittar highest point in Jodhpur. It is divided into three parts, of which one part is a luxury heritage Taj Palace Hotel, which came into existence in 1972. Of the other two parts, one is the residence of the current royal family, headed by the Maharajas of Jodhpur Guy Singh and the other part is a museum which displays the properties and the history of the 20th century in the Jodhpur royal family.

The palace is one of the largest private residences in the world and has a three hundred twenty-seven rooms. It also has a gallery that shows the most exotic collection of cars owned by the royal family.
