Corniglia and our Bed&Breakfast
A few steps from the sea, located in Corniglia historical centre (Via Fieschi 204), our resort offers cosy and fresh rooms with private bathroom. The view is unique between the sea and the typical terracings cultivated to vineyards that surround the whole village. The Torre Bella Vista is at 50 meters from our building, it’s a unique panoramic viewpoint along with
the Terrazza di Santa Maria, a striking overlook on the 5 Terre. Nearby our site, you will find numerous restaurants where to savour good fish enhanced by the aromatic fragrances which grow spontaneously on this land such as thyme, oregano, marjoram, mint and so many others. In the many speciality shops and restaurants, one among the others, “La Scuna“ (Via Fieschi 185) you will find and taste typical products such as the rare and excellent “Sciacchetrà”, not to mention the good local wine or artisan beer combined with tasty aperitifs with anchovies, cheese and salami platters (tagliere), carpaccio and the cold specials of the day. Corniglia, the most ancient of the Terre, rises on a rocky ridge overhanging the sea which offers a unique and impressive overlook. Its low and broad houses take more after those situated inland that after the typical Liguria dwellings, an evidence underlining the town traditional vocation is more and more addressed to the land than to the seaside. Its façade is enriched with a marble rose window and various decorations among which a bas relief illustrating a deer, the town symbol. Worth a visit are also the following sites: the Oratorio dei Disciplinati that goes back to ‘700 and offers an outstanding and breath-taking panorama on the sea below, the Largo Taragio, Corniglia small square, the beating heart of the town. From there starts la Scalinata alla Marina, that leads to sea level below: there you can bathe in the crystal clear waters whilst you can still breathe the land and its plants scent that remain anchored to the sun burnt rocks. Moreover, since Corniglia is the middle “land”, all paths start from there, they are ancient mulattiere, mule tracks, that, between sky and sea, connect the five towns considered by Unesco precious world heritage sites. Alternatively, the railway station at Corniglia is within a 10 minutes walk from the town square and allows to reach the 5 Terre in a few minutes. How to get there:
۷ By train: many are the routes on the Pisa-Genova line which make it possible to reach the small town. Aside are the frequent local trains leaving from Spezia and which stop at all the 5 Terre.
۷ By car : exit at La Spezia and follow the indications to the 5 Terre, the coastal road.
۷ By plane : the closer airports are the Cristoforo Colombo in Genova and the Galileo Galilei in Pisa.
۷ On foot : following the paths that link the small towns.
