Reflecting back to the beginning, four years ago. I am not sure what I saw that inspired the vision of potential but I definitely felt something! And to this day there are no regrets. Looking back helps to remind me that no matter how slow or how long it might take to get things done, it’s progressing and has come along way since April 2022!!! ❤️.

I couldn’t have done it alone and have in fact never really felt alone. There is a big team behind all this: New friends, neighbors, fellow Cascina owners, my family

and of course and Samantha, who are always there for every little drama that crops up or anything that needs fixing 😂 🤗🙏

And another major project kicks off this week after months of back and forth trying to get the permits! I don’t think it can get more complicated for construction approvals, that was a nightmare for the project manager! In the process we did find my long lost sewage outlet. Not in an ideal location anymore 🫣.

Very happy to be back at Deiso! Much work to do this trip but gotta start it with a ride!!! A very warm welcome by Samantha and Davide with beautiful flowers planted everywhere, the place is looking great. Hopefully renovation on the structure can be started soon 😅!

Going to be a while till my next trip. Plans for the first stage of renovation still with the municipality, as they consider a minor technicality with the windows, I think. Seems they are concerned with the external appearance. Once we are through then I can start on builders quotes and construction later in the year or not 😂, on Italy time. Not trying to do much at this stage but keep the building standing a few more hundred years and create some accommodation for renting. At least I made a start on my kitchen, if just to clear the space to organize it better, with the help of Davide 🙏 in February.

Never bored with the view. Rewarded this year, despite the cold, with amazing views of the mountains. This past month was more admin focused. Sorting out accounting and architect matters. Less work in the house except a huge clean out and we took off my kitchen cabinets. I installed a gas heater upstairs in my bedroom, and was taken advantage of by the plumber, it doesn’t really work, and he got paid handsomely. Nothing I can do now but learn from it! Seems plumbers and electricians are the best paid workers in Italy and there is no shortage of them, so I’ll take more time to assess next time lol .. Plans are at council awaiting approval for phase 1 of construction. Stay tuned for more later in the year.
