​🌱 C'è una grande differenza tra un prato semplicemente sfalciato a macchina e un prato gestito con il pascolo. In questo video vi spiego perché il lavoro del nostro gregge è insostituibile per migliorare la qualità del fondo e far esplodere la biodiversità.
​🌾 Più gli animali pascolano, più si attivano tre fattori chiave: il movimento controllato, il calpestio leggero degli zoccoli (che interra i semi e stimola il terreno) e, naturalmente, il rilascio del concime naturale. Questo mix perfetto non impoverisce il suolo come fa un taglio meccanico continuo, ma crea le condizioni ideali per la nascita di un prato fiorito, ricco di varietà botaniche e incredibilmente resiliente.
​🐝 Chi trae il massimo beneficio da tutta questa ricchezza? Le api! Un prato così vario offre loro una fioritura costante e nutrimento di altissima qualità. Proprio nel nostro pascolo ospitiamo alcuni apiari di un mio caro amico: le sue api lavorano senza sosta in questo paradiso e ne traggono un vantaggio enorme, producendo un miele che racchiude l'essenza pura della nostra montagna.

​🌱 There is a huge difference between a meadow that is simply mowed by machine and one managed through grazing. In this video, I explain why our herd's work is irreplaceable for improving soil quality and boosting biodiversity.
​🌾 The more the animals graze, the more three key factors are activated: controlled movement, light hoof trampling (which presses seeds into the soil and stimulates the ground), and, of course, natural fertilization. This perfect mix doesn't deplete the soil like continuous mechanical mowing does; instead, it creates the ideal conditions for a blooming meadow, rich in botanical varieties and incredibly resilient.
​🐝 Who benefits the most from all this richness? The bees! Such a diverse meadow offers them constant blooms and high-quality nourishment. Right in our pasture, we host a few apiaries belonging to a dear friend of mine: his bees work tirelessly in this paradise and benefit enormously, producing honey that captures the pure essence of our mountains.

​🌿 Camminando nei nostri pascoli in questo periodo è impossibile non notare il blu-viola intenso della Salvia dei prati. Ma oltre alla sua bellezza, questa pianta nasconde un segreto straordinario che vi mostro da vicino in questo video: un meccanismo di impollinazione unico, una vera trappola botanica perfetta.

​🐝 La salvia ha sviluppato un sistema "a leva" incredibile per riprodursi. Quando un insetto pronubo, come una ape, entra nel fiore alla ricerca del nettare, spinge involontariamente una piccola paratia alla base. Questo movimento fa scattare verso il basso due lunghi filamenti che portano il polline, proprio come un bilanciere, "timbrando" con precisione millimetrica il dorso dell'insetto. Quando quella ape volerà su un altro fiore, il polline sul suo dorso toccherà lo stigma pronto a riceverlo.

​🌿 Walking through our pastures at this time of year, it's impossible to miss the intense blue-purple of the Meadow Clary. But beyond its beauty, this plant hides an extraordinary secret that I show you up close in this video: a unique pollination mechanism, a true masterpiece of botanical engineering.
​🐝 The clary sage has developed an incredible "lever" system to reproduce. When a pollinating insect, like a bumblebee, enters the flower in search of nectar, it involuntarily pushes a small barrier at the base. This movement triggers two long stamens to swing downward, just like a seesaw, "stamping" the insect's back with millimeter precision. When that bumblebee flies to another flower, the pollen on its back will touch the stigma ready to receive it.

​🌱 Il segreto di un pascolo sano sta nei dettagli e nei tempi giusti. In questo video mi vedete all'opera mentre sistemo il terreno con il trinciatutto, ma non siamo a fine stagione: dividiamo il nostro pascolo in settori e, ogni volta che il gregge finisce di ripulire una partizione, interveniamo immediatamente prima di spostarli in quella successiva.

​⏱️ Questo lavoro tempestivo è fondamentale per migliorare il fondo e eliminare sul nascere le piante tossiche prima che vadano a seme. Nel video vi mostro da vicino proprio il colchico: in questo periodo non vedete il suo tipico fiore viola, che spunterà solo in autunno, ma le sue grandi foglie verdi che racchiudono i frutti. Tutta la pianta contiene colchicina, una tossina potentissima e letale per gli animali.

​🐐 Trinciando subito dopo il passaggio delle capre, interrompiamo il ciclo di questa infestante e garantiamo un rigenerarsi dell'erba buono, pulito e sicuro per i cicli successivi. Vale la pena soffermarsi su ogni secondo di queste immagini: non c'è finzione, ma solo il ritmo autentico e millimetrico della cura che dedichiamo alla nostra terra.

​🌱 The secret to a healthy pasture lies in the details and timing. In this video, you can see me at work grooming the ground with the flail mower, but it's not the end of the season: we divide our pasture into sectors, and each time the herd finishes clearing a section, we take action immediately before moving them to the next one.
​⏱️ This timely work is essential to improve the soil and eliminate toxic plants right from the start before they go to seed. In the video, I show you a close-up of colchicum: at this time of year, you won't see its typical purple flower, which only appears in autumn, but rather its large green leaves enclosing the seed pods. The entire plant contains colchicine, a powerful and lethal toxin for animals.
​🐐 By shredding immediately after the goats have passed, we interrupt the cycle of this w**d and ensure a good, clean, and safe regeneration of the grass for the following cycles. It's worth pausing on every second of this footage: there is no staging, just the authentic and precise rhythm of the care we dedicate to our land.
