Today introduces #175 William Bottin.

Guglielmo Bottin (1977) is music maker, sound artist and scholar based in Venice, Italy. After graduating in Psychology of Music at the University of Padua, he joined the sound and music department of Fabrica.

Before moving to the forefront of the contemporary electronic dance music scene with seminal releases on record labels such as Italians Do It Better, Eskimo and Bear Funk, he has worked as producer, arranger and remixer for Italian and international artists (Lucio Dalla, Rettore, Chambao).

In 2019, Bottin contributed to establish Biennale’s center for electronic music and multimedia. He has completed a PhD research project in musicology and technologies of groove at the University of Milan and he is a founding memeber of GRID, an academic research group on Italodisco.

Bottin has toured in more than 30 countries, from Americas to Australia, from Europe to Asia, from contemporary art galleries and underground parties to major clubs like Space and Pacha in Ibiza. He curated and performed in various music events for Biennale di Venezia and also carried out sound design for Mundadas’ Spanish Pavilion. In 2018 he was invited to play for the closing event at Biennale’s 62nd International Festival of Contemporary Music.

Bottin’s sets are eclectic, unpredictable journeys into cosmic disco-not-disco, digging out obscure sounds from the past and reworking them for the post-modern dance floor. A reckless blend of retro-futuristic sounds and current electronica. Side-projects include Italian neo-wave band Cristalli Liquidi and synth-percussion project Deardrums. Bottin’s Horror Disco music was recently discovered by director Ana Lily Amirpour and licensed in the feature film Mona Lisa and The Blood Moon.

She lived and worked for 12 years outside her native Portugal, including extended forays in London, Italy, Munich, and Los Angeles.
During two years in Venice, she was part of Fabrica's Creative team.

Today introduces #601 Martina Zena.

Martina's Emilian roots have reached Milan, the city where she actually lives and works. The experimentation and contamination between different expressive fields is her constant attitude.
Drawing is the centre of her work but always in dialogue with a lot of languages and instruments like music, live performance, optical instruments, serigraphy, installation, ceramic, textile and design.

For Martina "For me there is a time “before” and a time “after” Fabrica.

Il trailer de “The Concrete Castle” è ora online!

Laura Sans, regista

In ordine di apparizione: Giovanni Tosato, Cosimo Bizzarri Anna Kulachek Lorenzo Vitturi

2024, Fabrica celebrated its 30th anniversary, and to mark this extraordinary milestone, we created a documentary that tells the story, ...

Today introduces #596 Coralie Gourguechon.

Coralie is a designer whose work revolves around the intelligibility of technical systems. She is interested in the lifecycle of electronic and digital devices, from the inner workings of a component to the larger infrastructures and supply chains involved in their manufacturing. She also likes to build makeshift electronic circuits and write stories to question the imaginaries of technical progress and our relationships with technology.

For Coralie Fabrica is "biking to Fabrica with a yellow bike, meeting ducks on the way, creativity spreading, knowing interesting people, countless spritz and gelati, lots of pizzas too, market on Saturdays and Venezia around the corner".

The event will conclude at 8PM.

Exhibition Statement:
Change hums along in the background of everything—a steady march, an unsettling melody, a choreography of beginnings masquerading as endings. things change to the point that they cease to exist. Here, change isn’t a clean slate but a sticky residue, where what dies clings stubbornly to what emerges, refusing to release its grip.

This collection of works deals with processes of change - changes towards the post-human, to the post-industrial, and with the recession and reinvention of institutions once considered immovable and immortal.

The old world is dying and the new world struggles to be born - not in defiance of the old, but tangled within it, inheriting its ruins, its contradictions, its ghosts. we continue along our march of change, until the very end.

Resident Artists:
Brecht De C**k
David Robert
Diego Perez De La Cruz
Emerson Freire
Georgia Satchwell
Laura Tura .t.ura
Mana Mohammadi .mana
Martina Sanchetti
Rebeca Alvaro .alvaro
Roni Binder

SAVE THE DATE!

From Ash to Life
