Opening Spring 2026: Imperial Hotel, Kyoto will begin accepting room reservations this autumn!
The Imperial Hotel, Kyoto, scheduled to open in the spring of 2026, will begin accepting room reservations this coming autumn 2025.
Inheriting the architectural design of the Yasaka Kaikan, the hotel will offer an immersive experience in harmony with the rich culture and landscape of Gion and the Higashiyama Mountains. The guestrooms are spread across three areas, each defined by its architectural styles.
Imperial Suite (first photo)
Located in the renovation area, the Imperial Suite features stunning views from its north and east-facing terraces. You can enjoy views of Gion’s historic tea house district, the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo, and the majestic Higashiyama mountains. The gazebo, an iconic feature of the Yasaka Kaikan, offers an unforgettable setting for creating lasting memories. The suite also features thoughtfully curated furnishings and materials that reflect Kyoto’s legacy, offering a one-of-a-kind immersive experience only possible at the Imperial Hotel.
Extension area (second photo)
Guestrooms in the newly built section are designed to blend in with the streetscape of traditional wooden townhouses. Inside, a seamless harmony of contemporary design and classical architecture awaits. This unique atmosphere, enhanced by refined Japanese tatami flooring, immerses you in the serene spirit of Gion. Notably, these are the first guestrooms in the Imperial Hotel’s history to feature tatami flooring.
Preservation area (third photo)
The guestrooms in this area face the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo and Hanamikoji. Inside, the pillars, beams, and window frames still retain traces of the Yasaka Kaikan. Some of the rooms feature private balconies, allowing you to immerse yourself in the extraordinary feeling of being in the heart of Gion, surrounded by the authentic atmosphere of the Yasaka Kaikan—a nationally registered tangible cultural property.
Renovation area (fourth photo)
While faithfully retaining the architectural silhouette of the Yasaka Kaikan, the overall design is thoroughly modern, with its expansive windows offering views that gently shift from the tranquil atmosphere of early morning to the enchanting glow of lanterns at night.
