Introducing a different initiative from the lodging business at The Guest House Japan Resort.
Located in Kitakaruizawa, a highland resort area midway between Tokyo and Hakuba, we operate the Kitakaruizawa Tennis Club, which has 11 beautiful clay courts and a huge grass area.
Clay courts are becoming increasingly rare in Japan. Maintaining clay courts is particularly challenging in this area, at an altitude of approximately 1150m, where temperature fluctuations are extreme. It requires constant efforts to flatten the surface, spreading sand, and brushing. In April and May, after the snowmelt, the courts are soft due to high moisture content, making daily maintenance especially important.
We make efforts to maintain the environment to help junior players to win in clay court tournaments around the world, and create tennis enthusiasts.
There also be a beautiful cafe called “Cafe Rainbow” in the antique clubhouse. You can enjoy coffee as well as delicious lunch!
I have learned a lot of things from competitive tennis since when I was small, and sons have grown through tennis in Japan, Australia and US, we operate this tennis club with the aim of contributing to juniors who want to be professional player traveling around the world in future, who love playing tennis and even who want to play first time!
Please visit the tennis club if you have opportunities to visit Japan in spring to autumn season!
