Of course, the farm was the perfect venue… But we knew it was gonna take a tremendous amount of work, investment, blood, sweat, and tears… And we always thought we could find a wedding venue that was more turn key… we went overseas, we searched in the mountains, we tried to find something locally and nothing quite felt right. I kept on pulling back to doing it at the farm… and finally, just like I said yes 13 years ago… He said yes lol to a vision that I had that neither one of us were sure was going to be possible.

So much love, blood sweat and tears went in to our wedding venue and what’s most special is that now we get to look at it for the rest of our lives and maybe even see other loved ones say I do in the exact same spot… maybe even Leo and Annie one day…

Somewhere along the way, between building a life with raising babies, running businesses, and just trying to keep up… I quietly let go of something that once made me feel like me. and the wildest part? i didn’t even notice it happening. If you’ve been feeling a little disconnected from the things that used to light you up… maybe this is your sign. What’s one thing you want to take back this year?

It’s the simple things 🥹☀️There’s just something about a sunny day and your dad showing up. So grateful that my parents live right down the road, so we get to have special little moments like this 🫶🏼

Trying to live more sustainably is all about making small, easy habits part of your routine!

I’m so excited to be partnering with Return-It again this year to talk about recycling plastic beverage containers. Here in BC, we have one of the highest recovery rates for these containers, and every single one is recycled into something new, helping to reduce waste and pollution. The best part? Return-It Express is the fastest way to drop off your containers… no sorting required, plus you get money back in your pocket! 💰

Next time you’re reaching for the garbage can, remember to hold on to your plastic beverage containers and return them for the deposit instead! Every container counts! Stay tuned for more, we’re just getting started.

Watch until the end of this video because figuring out this recipe was… an experience 😂 I had a “morning margarita” a few weeks back at the airport and have been dying to recreate it ever since! Think… if a Caesar and a Margarita had a baby… this is it. A savoury spicy margarita. It’s SO GOOD.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Caesarita (makes two!)
5oz tomato juice
4oz freshly squeezed lime juice
4oz tequila
Sliced jalapeño
Cilantro
Dash of Worcestershire
1/4 tsp sugar
Salt & chili rimmer
Garnish with lime and jalapeño
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Save this post and share with a friend who you want to have a Caesarita with! 🍹

Japan food recap… and honestly… we went ALL in 🍣 🍜
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the things we were most excited about going into this trip was the food… and it did not disappoint. Our kids are pretty adventurous (Leo eats seaweed snacks like they’re chips lol), so we were ready to try everything… and we pretty much did.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t stay perfectly gluten-free (I obviously had to live a little… miso soup, soy sauce… you get it), but I skipped the heavier stuff and honestly found it pretty easy with all the rice and rice noodles. And yes… I cheated for the jiggly pancakes. Worth it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Biggest surprise? The rice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t know what they do to it in Japan, but I was eating rice for breakfast… lunch… dinner… dessert… bedtime snack… obsessed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sushi was hands down our favourite… we craved it constantly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We also tried a LOT of things we didn’t love… some textures, some mystery items lol… sea grapes in Okinawa were… an experience.

The kids were obsessed with 7-Eleven runs… mochi, egg salad sandwiches, those little triangle rice things… it became a whole ritual. And the fruit was covered in that sugary syrup situation… the kids were living their best lives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will say… everything felt so fresh and healthy… but I definitely missed salt lol. More than anything… I’m just so proud of the kids. They tried EVERYTHING… and this trip really opened their eyes (and taste buds) to a whole new world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Okay, tell me… what’s your go-to Japanese snack, or something I HAVE to try next time??

Okinawa… our final stop on what was truly a trip of a lifetime 🇯🇵🏝️🙏 this had to be the best place to end the trip… So much history and so much learning for the kids with that taste of the tropics we’ve been craving.

I don’t even know how to explain it properly … it’s SO lush, and the water is the brightest blue that doesn’t even look real in photos.

But it’s also… complicated.

You can feel the history here. Most of this island was completely destroyed during Battle of Okinawa and then occupied by the U.S. for decades after, and I don’t know… it gives the island this really contrasting vibe. Like the nature is unreal, but some of the architecture feels heavy and a bit worn. Not bad… just different. And kind of emotional if you really sit with it, the more you learn.

We kept saying over and over… 3 days was NOT enough.

We didn’t snorkel. Didn’t make it down to the south end. Didn’t even come close to doing everything we wanted. But I truly feel like it ended up being exactly what we needed. A place to slow down, reset, let the kids just be, and wrap up THE most epic family trip.

It’s not the kind of place that hits you in a flashy, obvious way… but it really stays with you - I mean how could I forget the snake Awamori lol 🐍🍸🏝️🇯🇵🌎
