毎年6月に欠かせない京都の伝統的な歳時菓子「水無月(みなづき)」 。
暑気を払う氷に見立てた白いういろうに厄除けの願いを込めた小豆をのせた和菓子で、6月30日に行われる神事「夏越の祓(なごしのはらえ)」に合わせて食べる風習があります。

Minazuki, a traditional seasonal sweet from Kyoto that is indispensable every June, is a Japanese confection made of white uiro (a steamed rice cake) shaped to resemble ice, topped with red beans believed to ward off evil and bring good fortune.
It is traditionally eaten in conjunction with Nagoshi no Harae (the Summer Purification Rite), a Shinto ceremony held on June 30 to pray for good health and protection from misfortune during the remainder of the year.
