Happy Children's day ! (Kodomo no Hi) 🎏
The 5th of may is Children's day in Japan. Originally boys' day, it became the national holiday for all children in 1948. For that occasion, people hang carp shaped streamers from their balconies, one for each parent and children. On this day, people eat sweets wrapped in oak and bamboo or iris leaves called Kashiwa Mochi and Chimaki.

Did you know that the art of flower arrangement Ikebana was one of the Emperor Saga's favorite art form? For more than 1200 years, the city has been one of the main places of ikebana. The ikebana school of Saga Goryu that is said to have begun when Emperor Saga arranged chrysanthemums blooming on Kiku-ga-jima Island to present to the court.
