Although the exact year of construction is unknown, Baigetsuan is said to have a history of over 220 years and is deeply connected to the haiku culture that flourished in Yame from the mid-Edo period.
Once a place where many poets composed their verses, Baigetsuan invites you to sit on the engawa veranda, gaze upon the seasonal garden, and reflect on the land of Yame or on those dear to you—an essence of travel in Japan.
