🇮🇪🇰🇪 EIREANNS WAY KENYA | SUBUKIA PILGRIM WALK 2026 🙏🔥
IN AID OF Le Cheilè Africa ❤️

WHAT A WEEKEND. WHAT A JOURNEY. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TEAM.

This was REAL KENYA. REAL PEOPLE. REAL EXPERIENCES. 🌍❤️

No shortcuts. No luxury. Just the open landscape, the people beside us, and a 50km challenge that tested every ounce of strength, determination, and endurance we had.

🏕️ CAMPING UNDER THE STARS
🔥 Cooking together around the campfire.
🌅 Watching the sun set over the Kenyan landscape.
🌄 Waking to the beauty of a new sunrise.
🥾 Two days. 50 kilometres. One unforgettable pilgrimage.

The Subukia Pilgrim Walk 2026 was an epic and relentless adventure through rocky paths, dusty trails, steep climbs, uneven ground, and some of Kenya's most breathtaking scenery.

There were aching muscles.
There were tired legs.
There were moments when the challenge felt endless.

But there was also laughter, friendship, courage, faith, and a team that kept moving forward. ❤️💪

THIS WAS NEVER JUST ABOUT WALKING 50KM.

It was about stepping outside our comfort zones.
It was about sharing an experience with real people and embracing the reality of life in Kenya.
It was about discovering what we can achieve when we support one another.
And above all, it was about making every step count for LE CHÉILE AFRICA and the communities we serve. 🩷

Every kilometre. Every climb. Every moment of exhaustion.

WALKED WITH PURPOSE. 🙏

To every participant who took on this journey, to everyone who cooked, camped, encouraged, supported, and walked alongside us:

YOU ARE WHAT MAKES THIS TEAM SPECIAL. ❤️

Different backgrounds. Different stories. One shared purpose.

ONE TEAM. ONE JOURNEY. ONE MISSION. 🇮🇪🇰🇪💪

🇰🇪 A LITTLE MESSAGE FROM ONE OF OUR CLIENTS
We received yesterday on a trip we planned in early August ..
Delighted to receive a message back...

A big thanks to our trusted Kenyan licensed partner in helping us put it all together and putting it into reality.
Here we had to work to a set budget but delighted we got it across the line whole ensuring all local guides ,accommodation and transport guys were looked after fairly .. All extremely happy 😊 so Happy Days ..

“Great to finally meet you, Derry, while we were visiting the Le Chéile Africa projects in Nakuru.

It was actually our first time meeting the guy who had planned our whole Kenyan adventure!

We were recommended to you through a mutual friend and, from the start, you really listened to what we wanted.

Starting and finishing in Nairobi, our 10-day overland trip took us to some amazing places:

🏔️ Mount Kenya — including some great hikes
🦒 Samburu National Reserve
🌄 The Great Rift Valley
🦏 Lake Nakuru National Park
🦁 Maasai Mara — and some incredible safari days
🏛️ Historical and cultural sites along the way
🌊 The Kenyan Coast & Indian Ocean

We also got the chance to briefly visit some of the Le Chéile Africa projects in Solai while we were in Nakuru , which was a really nice addition to the trip.

What we loved most was the variety. One day we were hiking, the next seeing amazing wildlife, travelling through completely different landscapes, learning about Kenya's history and meeting local people — and then finishing with some sunshine by the coast.

And somehow, you managed to put all of that together without breaking the bank!

Everything was organised through your trusted and licensed Kenyan partners, and the whole trip went so smoothly.

We honestly couldn't believe how much we managed to see and do in just 10 days.

Ahh man thanks Derry — it was some adventure, and we'll definitely be recommending you to others! 🇰🇪❤️”

There are mountains that separate us by thousands of kilometres… and then there are mountains that somehow bring us together. ❤️⛰️🇮🇪🇰🇪

Today, John Mul and William were out on a training day in Ireland, taking on Carrauntoohil — Ireland’s highest mountain — as preparation for next month’s Subukia Pilgrim Walk in Kenya, which forms part of our Hakuna Matata Volunteer Week with Le Chéile Africa.

And, as if climbing Ireland’s highest mountain wasn’t enough, the added bonus was that they safely guided 14 people up and back down in the process. 🙏👏

Meanwhile, here in Kenya, the training continued in its own very different way!

Our planned 8–10km route somehow became 16km! 😆

A slight ankle strain meant the original route — rough terrain, hills and plenty of punishment — had to be changed, so we reverted to the roads instead.

Different country. Different landscape. Different mountain.

But the same spirit.

Getting out. Getting moving. Enjoying the journey. Testing ourselves. And preparing for something bigger.

And looking at the photos from both sides of the journey, you have to ask…

Isn't the world absolutely beautiful, no matter where ya are? 🌍❤️

From the rugged slopes of Carrauntoohil in Ireland to the incredible Kenyan landscape, one hike is now blending into another.

Next month, those steps will become part of the Subukia Pilgrim Walk, bringing people together through walking, culture, faith, friendship and adventure — before continuing into a week of volunteering, community, laughter and making a real difference with Le Chéile Africa.

Ireland 🇮🇪 → Kenya 🇰🇪
Carrauntoohil → Subukia
One journey → One spirit ❤️

Sometimes you just need to get out the door, put one foot in front of the other, and enjoy what’s around you.

The world is a pretty beautiful place when you take the time to walk through it. 🌍🥾❤️

Sleeping Under the Mighty African Sky 🌍🇰🇪

Most of us have camped before… but not like this!

The Subukia Pilgrim Walk is one of the many unique local walking experiences we offer through Eireanns Way Kenya — combining adventure, culture, nature, community and unforgettable experiences.

Imagine sleeping under the mighty African sky, surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Great Rift Valley.

Over the journey, experience hot springs, river crossings, local culture and communities, while taking on an incredible 1,000 metres of elevation gain.

And then there is that unforgettable moment — crossing the Equator from the Southern Hemisphere into the Northern Hemisphere. 🌍

This isn't simply a walk.

It's an adventure, a cultural experience and a pilgrimage — all rolled into one.

And for those who want to take their Kenya experience even further, Eireanns Way Kenya also offers volunteering opportunities through Le Chéile Africa, allowing you to combine adventure and cultural experiences with the opportunity to make a real difference in local communities. ❤️

Walk Kenya. Experience Kenya. Give back to Kenya.

From local walks and pilgrimages to cultural experiences, safaris and volunteering — come experience the real Kenya with us.

🌍 HAKUNA MATATA VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026 🇮🇪🇰🇪

15th–26th September | Kenya

The countdown is well and truly on… and we're getting very excited! ❤️

Hakuna Matata Volunteer Week is one of the biggest highlights of our year — not simply a holiday, but an opportunity to experience Kenya, its people and communities as they really are.

Over the 12 days, we'll visit and support a whole range of Le Chéile Africa projects, including Sigito School, Le Cheile Africa Special Unit / Whistle Daycare, Wesley's Munch Soup Kitchen & Daves Diner , Health Clinic, Clean Water Project, Rebuild a Home, Rainbow Haven and Zeus Zerograze Training Farm.

We'll make time for home visits, meeting families and seeing life as it really is — sometimes tough and heartbreaking, but also incredibly rewarding when you realise that your presence and support can make a genuine difference.

And then there's the adventure! 🥾🏍️🌍

Daily morning hikes, the Subukia Pilgrim Walk, Poc Fada Across the Equator, exploring the hustle and bustle of Nakuru markets, a motorbike adventure around Lake Solai and the Great Rift Valley, and a visit to Solai Nature Conservation seeing giraffes, zebras and other wildlife. 🦒🦓

There'll be plenty of food, laughter, music, culture, friendship and craic along the way — and maybe even a relaxing swim and a few chilled evenings after a busy day! ☀️

And remember… this is Africa! 🇰🇪

We have an itinerary, but plans can change in a heartbeat. Weather, community events or simply an unexpected opportunity can take us somewhere completely different.

Nothing is compulsory. Want to get stuck in? Brilliant. Need a quiet day or some time to relax? That's absolutely fine too.

This isn't a sun holiday…

It's an experience in the sun. ☀️

It's about stepping outside your comfort zone, meeting people, sharing experiences, understanding the realities of community life and seeing first-hand the impact of everyone coming together.

The real Kenya.
The real people.
The real Africa.
The real difference.

An experience of a lifetime awaits.

Hakuna Matata Volunteer Week 2026 — Bring it on! ❤️🇮🇪🇰🇪
