Our Story
Windloft Retreat is a modern hotel located in Kandyan hills close to Deltota, an hour’s drive from Kandy. The hotel is perched on top of a mountain surrounded by hills and provide an infinite panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Located at an altitude over 1000m MSL, the location is an ideal get-away for nature lovers and couples who seek relaxation and rest-in-mind. The relaxation-excursions include walking around the Retreat, relaxing in the natural water pool, sketch the sceneries or tour in Loolkandura Estate, where the first commercial tea estate was established by the Scottish planter James Taylor. Operating since 2012, the hotel is equipped with 9 luxury rooms, with ability to accommodate up to 26 guests. Individual rooms have hot water, a minibar, complimentary tea/ coffee and percolator, Satellite TV and room service. The public area includes the restaurant, reception and the entertainment room with facilities for board games, karaoke and a full-sized billiard table. The surrounding of the hotel includes home-grown organic vegetable beds, fruit and flower gardens, a plant nursery, a fernery under the infinite-view deck and an ornamental pond. The lake below the hotel holds an ideal place for sun-tanning with a book or a cooling drink in the lakeside garden. The meals include organic vegetables from the garden alongside a wide variety of dishes with Windloft Specialties.
