💧 Rotary Focus Area: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

The Rotary Club of Kandy Hill Capital proudly joined hands with ISRAAID to donate water filters to families in Hanthana, Kandy, with the aim of improving access to safe and clean drinking water.

Access to clean water is essential for good health, well-being, and a better quality of life. Through this initiative, we hope to reduce waterborne illnesses, improve daily hygiene practices, and support healthier communities. These water filters will provide families with a reliable source of cleaner water for drinking, cooking, and everyday household use.

This project reflects Rotary’s commitment to the Focus Area of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, ensuring that communities have access to one of life's most basic necessities. By investing in clean water solutions today, we help create healthier and more sustainable futures for generations to come.

On 30th May 2026, the club donated over 100 items of baby clothing to Daya Niwasa. In response to a request made by the institution, we were able to collect and provide both new and gently used baby clothes. The donation was made with the intention of supporting the children under their care and addressing their immediate clothing needs.
The club extends its sincere gratitude to all donors and well-wishers whose generosity made this initiative a success.

Under Rotary’s Area of Focus – Disease Prevention & Treatment, the Rotary Club of Kandy Hill Capital successfully completed Phase 1 & Phase 2 of our Stray Dog Rabies Vaccination Project in collaboration with the Kandy Municipal Council. 🐾💉

Understanding the importance of controlling and preventing the spread of rabies within the community, the Kandy Municipal Council warmly accepted and supported our concept, leading to a successful joint initiative focused on both animal welfare and public safety.

Through this project, nearly 200 stray dogs across the Kandy Municipal area, including Kandy Town, Main Bus Stand areas, Katugastota Road, Nittawela Road, and Arupola were vaccinated against rabies.

This initiative was carried out not only to protect stray dogs, but also to safeguard the public from the dangers of rabies transmission. Rabies is a deadly yet preventable disease, and regular vaccination programs help create a healthier and safer environment for both humans and animals.

At Rotary, we believe compassion, responsibility, and community health go hand in hand. By protecting stray animals, we also protect our people and promote a more humane society. ❤️

Education is the strongest foundation we can give to create confident, independent, and successful future leaders. This initiative reflects our dedication towards girl child education and supporting deserving students to achieve their dreams despite challenges.
