🌿 Ampana Village – Family Friendly Glamping Experience 🏕️

If you want to explore real Sri Lankan village life, Ampana Village is one of the best places you can visit. Our glamping site is located about 7 km from Kitulgala town, at the very last village on top of the mountain. This is the end of the Kitulgala–Malwattha and Kitulgala–Thembuwattha roads, surrounded by rainforest, streams, and untouched nature.
Ampana Village is a very old rural village with no proper roads and very limited mobile signal. But that is the beauty of it — you can experience the peaceful lifestyle that Sri Lanka had many years ago.
🌱 Village Lifestyle & Experience
When you walk through the village, you will see:
• Small water pools and natural streams everywhere
• Villagers tapping Kithul trees for toddy, honey, and jaggery
• Old-style village homes and simple living
• Children walking to school through forest paths
• Farmers growing pepper, cloves, and traditional crops
• Pure silence, fresh air, and the sound of birds and waterfalls
This is a place where life moves slowly, peacefully, and naturally.
🏕️ Our Glamping Site
Our campsite is built on a 2-acre family land with an old-style village home in the middle. Around it, we have created 4 family-friendly campsites, each with:
• 2 camping tents
• A small open kitchen for your meal preparation
• BBQ space for family and friends
• Clean toilets and proper sanitary facilities
Many Sri Lankan families love camping but struggle with toilets and safety — so we made sure our site is comfortable, clean, and family-friendly.
🥾 Hiking & Adventure
We offer two beautiful hiking experiences:
1️⃣ Belilena Cave to Campsite – 6 km
Start from the famous prehistoric Belilena Cave and walk through waterfalls, rainforest, and birdwatching spots until you reach our campsite.
2️⃣ Campsite to Olu Ella Waterfall – 12 km
A long but stunning rainforest trail leading to the beautiful Olu Ella waterfall.
🍯 Traditional Village Activities
You can also experience:
• Kithul toddy tapping
• Kithul honey and jaggery making
• Village cooking styles
• River bathing and natural pools
• Evening campfire with your family
