We don't believe tourism is the problem.

We believe it's the amount of steps it takes for you to get to the source of what you enjoy most about a place.

The further away we are from the people who grow the food, weave the carpets, press the argan oil, shape the pottery, bake the bread, and carry the stories of a place, the easier it becomes for the value they create to be extracted by someone else.

Travel has always been an exchange.

The question is simply: who benefits from that exchange?

At Aourir Waves, we're trying to build something rooted in a different belief.

One where attention matters just as much as spending. Where the people behind the experience are part of the experience. And how travel can leave behind more than memories.

But it's also the music, the conversations, the people, and the fact that our guests end up sharing a table with locals, surfers, artists and friends from the village.

Good food has a funny way of bringing the right people together.

We are constantly told that faster means better.

Faster communication.
Faster production.
Faster growth.

But living in Morocco has made me question this.

What if some things becoming slower is exactly what makes them valuable?

A conversation that cannot be replaced by a message.

A moment where there is nowhere else to be.

Here, relationships are not something to optimise away. In a world becoming increasingly focused on efficiency, Morocco is a reminder that some things only become valuable when we slow down enough to experience them.

Maybe the future isn't about doing more in less time.

Maybe it is about remembering what makes us human.

Surf. Rest. Remember.
