There was a surprise birthday party tonight on the street in front of your favourite vacation rental. Passers-by danced with the rest of us. Birthday girl was a distant 3x in-law. Lula of Plaza fame sang. We provided some tequila. 8 of our guests attended.

Another visit to ex-haciendas. This is the casco (central buildings) of the Ex-Hacienda El Rincon, 2 hours from your favorite vacation rental resort. Founded in 1895 with 7,000 hectares of sugar and beef. Upon land redistribution after the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920), it was reduced to 120 hectares and has avocado orchards. Like many ex-haciendas, it is in various states of decay and restoration.
