A place in Laos that completely took my breath away.
Phou Hua Lon, which literally translates to “Bald Head Mountain”, is located in a lesser-known province in Laos called Xaysomboun, home to the tallest mountain in the country, Phou Bia.
Nearing the end of my Laos overland journey, I had this feeling in my heart that the country still had one more thing to offer.
A friend mentioned a mountain with rolling hills, surreal landscapes, and the possibility of camping there. That was all I needed to hear. I was sold.
Getting there was another story altogether.
Information online was scarce, the drive was long and brutal, and one particular stretch of red dirt road really tested both Tara and me.
But eventually, after two exhausting days on the road, we made it.
Tired, dusty, slightly beaten.
But instantly humbled by the sheer beauty of the place.
Definitely worth the journey.
