Olu Jacobs was born to Egba parents and spent his early childhood in Kano before later pursuing studies in dramatic arts in the United Kingdom at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA).

- Started his professional acting career in British television series and stage productions in the 1970s.
- Returned to Nigeria and became one of the foundational figures in the rise of Nollywood, starring in over 100 films and numerous television projects.
- Often described alongside Pete Edochie as one of the “godfathers of Nollywood.”
- His extensive career includes roles in international films such as The Dogs of War and Pirates.
